“One day in the neighborhood of Dogo’s Temple of Chang-chou, death occurred in a certain home and Zen Master Dogo took his disciple Zengen to express their condolences to the family.” During the visit Zengen tapped the coffin and asked, “Is he alive or dead?”
Dogo answered, “I won’t say alive, I won’t say dead.” Zengen said, “Why don’t you say?” Dogo repeated, “I won’t say. I won’t say.” On the way back to the temple Zengen again asked, “Please tell me clearly, Master, whether he is dead or alive. If you don’t tell me, I’ll hit you.” The teacher said, “Hit me if you like, but I won’t say.” So Zengen hit him.
At length Dogo died and Zengen, still troubled by the question, went to see Sekiso, a well-known Zen teacher. He told Sekiso how years ago he had struck his old teacher because he would not answer his question on life and death. Then he repeated the same question to Sekiso. Sekiso said, “I won’t say alive, I won’t say dead. I won’t say. I won’t say.” At that Zengen came to realization.
totem?
What is meant by economically left wing? Socialist?
with the kneeling chair my legs are lower than 90 degrees, so if your graphic is accurate it should reduce pressure

Sir Thomas Wettington
Too amusing and horrible not to share:
"There is a serious point, though, which I started to glimpse at PyCon: that the values and assumptions contained in programming languages inform the software that’s written with them and change the world accordingly. By the time I’d learned that Brendan Eich, author of JavaScript, is an anti-vaxxer and was a supporter of a campaign to have same-sex marriage nixed in California, I wasn’t surprised.
I was surprised how much fun I had with the Pythonistas. Coding has a gender and race problem, with only about 5% of professionals identifying as women or either Black, African or Caribbean."
I spent a couple minutes searching just now.
It looks as though Klobukowska was trisomatic X (ie XXX chromosomes vs the typical XX for women) which apparently something like 1 in 1,000 women are.
Among the consequences of this disorder are extra height, which is an advantage in running and "subtle physical and skeletal anomalies" which I haven't seen explained but could also contribute to athletic performance.
Obviously if you just let everyone compete the winners will typically be men at the far end of the bell curve. If you try to create a restricted category for some group the winners will be at the far end of the bell curve inside of that group. For women's sports, this is going to mean cross-dressing men (who should probably be excluded) but also people with masculinizing genetic disorders like Klobukowsky and Semenya, as well as women with disorders of a non-genetic nature which promote testosterone (or other beneficial hormones for the competition in question).
In an unrestricted competition you will obviously have "gifted" men competing alongside performance-enhancing drug use, but at least everyone belongs in the competition and you don't have these edge cases.
All in all, this is another reminder that women's sports should be discontinued.
Maybe they're planning to move and hauling all that toilet paper will be a pain in the neck
"monetisation of every natural process on this earth" would be a great improvement
I see it like this:
Socialism was supposed to be more "scientific" and "rational" than the free market, and therefore to deliver greater prosperity. When that prosperity failed to come, they instead made "eco" poverty into a virtue.

I'm sure some people are just concerned about clean air and get swept up into the rest of it. However I think the root of the movement is anti-human and anti-industrial.

There's also the Rockefeller connection, in which climate change was selected as a cause celebre due to the potential to foster a global state.
I use a variant of this: https://www.chairoffice.co.uk/blog/i-used-a-kneeling-chair-for-a-week-heres-what-happened/
Russia (and not Ukraine) held the nuclear codes to actually use those weapons
I'm just getting into hobby radio
They built themselves a statue to commemorate their own generosity?
The sandbox debacles over the last 30 years certainly hurt
I think political (ie actually religious) division is also a major issue. When half the country denounces the other (eg as deplorable) few people are going to want to defend both halves
Are you getting enough fat? If you fill up on egg yolk, bone marrow or butter you should be pretty satiated
What are you snacking on? If you're hungry maybe you needed a bigger meal (or a second meal) rather than whatever snack item
Be careful with dairy if that's in your version of carnivore - I find that I can be full to the point that I don't want to eat almost any food you'd put in front of me, but I could often still down a pint of cream (which is especially risky as I can rationalize it as animal fat, see point 1)

the bronze medal was ugly so copper will surely crash
Natural language is a great medium for expressing computational concepts, you just have to be hyper-literal and borderline autistic
