Software engineer, outdoor enthusiast, occasional ham radio operator, aspiring hunter and homesteader, bitcoiner, neopagan druid, used to race sailboats, too many hobbies to list. Based in Northern Virginia. I don't like, only zap.

I had overcast weather all weekend, so I thought I missed the #aurora but I went out tonight and saw something odd, but indistinguishable, so I tried to take a picture. Maybe I got a little?

Not surprising. I don't have any direct interaction with queer communities as such, I was more thinking pagan, renn faire, geek communities, where there's a lot of crossover with nonmonogamous communities.

Ah, OK. Yeah, surprised by the criticism, not by the skepticism. I wonder if fear that nonmonogamy could be contagious (for lack of a better word) is insight into their own insecurity of the stability of their relationship? Back when I was first getting introduced to what was then called the poly community (late 90's) you would be forgiven for thinking it might be. Lots of couples and singles, then something changed and it turned into a large, complicated, and unstable polycule that fractured apart in unpredictable ways. It was sort of like early teenage relationships, but with adults.

I wonder if that's actually an insight? Would kids coming up in a world where nonmonogamy is an option from the start of their dating relationships handle it better, or at least have the inevitable issues not be nonmonogamy issues, but teenage relationship issues?

Is that actually an issue? Maybe I just live in too many poly-adjacent subcultures, but I haven't seen any particularly bad takes on enm or poly recently (20+ years). Had to look up cnm, but same goes there.

Mostly just skepticism that it would be sustainable, or "that would never work for me."

Watching the SpaceX launch just now, and Mondo 2000 popped into my mind. I wonder if tethered is something similar out there today? I see that there's actually an online presence from the original, but not very updated. https://www.mondo2000.com

May I suggest adding garlic? cut the top off the whole head, then when it's boiled, it's delicious. I haven't done a crawfish boil in a while but that's an integral part.

Thanks! Basically, the peer went offline around a month ago, so closing seemed the right thing to do.

I'm not desperate for the funds, so I guess I'll just hang out and see if it comes through eventually. And next time I have a better idea of what to pay attention to when closing channels.

I'm still curious if the channel close transaction on-chain is the only sign that the channel is closed, or if something similar is sent on lightning itself, because at around 18 sat/vbyte, it seems likely the transaction will be cleared from the mempool eventually. Guess I can go read some papers and/or source code to figure that out.

Again, thanks for the input.

Isn't that a different thing? I'm trying to change the fee for the on-chain transaction to close the lightning channel.

In LND (or Lightning Terminal, Thunderhub, Ride the Lighting, or LDNg, or anything else I can easily install/use on a Start9 box), how could I go about raising the fee paid?

Alternately, what happens if the close transaction falls off the mempool?

Isn't that saying you reported others 25 times? Or is it just badly written?

Hi Nostr, what's up? I've been offline, but #proofofwalk #proofofhike. Tomorrow is my last day on the trail, then back to the grind.

If you feel the need to graffiti the sign (on public property) saying please respect the private property, I think you might be part of the problem. #prooofofwalk, #proofofhike
