I like lots of things: outdoorsy stuff, photography, music, gardening, Drupal, programming, universities.

One of the two hard problems in Computer Science.

That “couple decades of software running on personal computing hardware” was the time when whole families had only one computer in their household. Maybe two if you’re lucky. And certainly no smartphone.

Now, every person has their own laptop, phone, probably tablet, and maybe watch. And they expect them all to access the same data, whether they’re at home or on the go.

Networking might be better now, but proper network security is far too complex for your average (or even above-average) person to host a home server that can be safely accessed externally.

And the software isn’t really there yet either. Projects like #start9 help, but the big corporate services (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, etc.) won’t give up easily and will always have better funding than any open source project.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. I think it’s a worthy goal.

Tl;dr: Yes, the hardware is good enough. No, the ecosystem is not ready for it.

nostr:npub1trr5r2nrpsk6xkjk5a7p6pfcryyt6yzsflwjmz6r7uj7lfkjxxtq78hdpu I just finished Chapter 7 of Check Your Financial Privilege. It’s amazing how so many of Palestine’s problems are rooted in their financial oppression.

With all these protests on college campuses, I wonder if there’s an opportunity to inject the idea of Bitcoin as a freedom tool into the programming of these encampments. They’re holding events and speakers every day.

Like you said in your book, #freepalestine is a little empty without actual action. What advice would you give these protesters to use Bitcoin to truly help the situation?

How long, do you think, until someone hacks the video feed?

This is a fantastic book.

I just read it tonight. It took me a little over two hours to read. It was easy to absorb, as it was written in a friendly, hopeful, and helpful tone.

This is a book I could give to any friend or family member who shows interest. They will be provided with the most up-to-date information, distilled down to the most crucial talking points. All without any condescension to the reader.

I wish I could put one of these in every Little Free Library in town. nostr:note1cukvdlt6avy60hq89h825pg70h3huwz2nxcj6jy4f3ws9hmpnydsf66usr

Interesting. I think Franklin would have been a Bitcoiner.

nostr:npub1hrctsg2qwu5gsp65gvj29968z460g0th755jq92c8uaz620lewmq6qk525 I love your songs and your videos!

However, I happen to be a person who is immensely distracted by the display of the lyrics on the screen. I can’t even watch movies with subtitles.

I might be alone in this, but I, for one, would greatly appreciate a version of the video without the subtitles.

Keep up the good work!

Yes. Capsaicin is oil-soluble, so when it is cooked, some of it will aerosolize and/or get thinned out in other oils in the food. Likewise, when pickled, the capsaicin is thinned out in the vinegar, which is a solvent.

It would be great if it worked with PWAs. Don’t know if that’s an iOS sandboxing limitation, but it’s the one thing that keeps me from adding all these great Nostr apps as PWAs on my home screen.

The people who are buying a home are likely the same people who are working from home. The requirement of an effective office room necessitates a larger home than maybe they would have bought in the before-times. If two people in the household are working from home, maybe even larger still.

During the first year or so of the pandemic, I shared a small room, converted to an office, with another member of my household, and a third person had a desk just outside the door. It was not ideal. Fortunately, it was only temporary, but if that was the new normal, I would absolutely be looking for a larger house.

Hey nostr 👋 #asknostr

For those that listen to our content nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld, do you find our name…distracting?

I’m talking about the word “progressive”

Do you find it’s a don’t judge a book by its cover situation for those that might not be crazy about the word progressive? Or do you love the name/word? Comment below from any of the 3 options:

1) keep the name

2) change the name

3) I don’t listen, doesn’t feel like it’s for me

1. Keep the name.

Two reasons:

— It’s important to appeal to people who identify as progressive.

— Also, right-wing nutcases like to think that they have twisted the word “progressive” around so that it’s somehow derogatory (like “woke”). Brave conservatives who still have a little bit of an open mind might listen to your show once and realize that they actually agree with almost everything and maybe “progressive” doesn’t mean what they thought it did.

Is it a problem that the blocks kinda melt together like that over time? Does it make it difficult to separate?
