Not a Catholic, but hard agree. The writings of the early church (Ante-Nicene) supports this understanding of the Scripture. I say Ante nicene because those are the writings that I have read though I imagine later writings support it as well.

I am not Amish but most of what I believe is Anabaptist. My wife and I have 12 children all but 3 are homebirths. The Amish would do homebirths. As for medical intervention (I am not entirely sure what the Amish would do), we had no medical intervention and would not unless there was a problem.

There are a lot of these projects that go on around the country. If you are Anabaptist, we believe in nonresistance and do not go to war. There are programs that young men can volunteer for, like you describe above, where they serve others and if there is ever a draft, they are exempt.
