I agree, but not yet have achieved this level. I hope that means that I am not yet ready to die.
This is exactly why I have no REAL ID. It's totally useless. Not that I believe in the state in any way, but this REAL ID is literally the man just fucking with us.
They claim that because so many states allow non-citizens to obtain drivers' licenses, it's caused an authenticity issue. Notwithstanding the holograms, the RF chips, et cetera, added to drivers licenses over the years to ensure their authenticity.
Now they claim that bringing your birth certificate to the same state traitor against humanity - oops, I mean, DMV office worker - will somehow make things 100% more accurate, as if no one could possibly falsify a birth certificate. I had to get a new one many years ago and it was easy because a friend of mine worked in city hall where the certificate was issued. Mine is real but Dr. Photoshop could make a facsimile even with the free edition.
The world is already codifying biometric ID (eye scan) for international travel. Whether we like it or not, IDs of any kind will be obsolete in five years. They kicked the can down the REAL ID road for twenty years and now that we're just about ready for ocular ID, they're going to make us all get new IDs?
That's just BS. REAL ID is just the man fucking with us. Next they'll tell us that we have to bring a stool sample. They are laughing a good one about this.
put a fifth of rum in it next time. :)
surely someone can vibe code every zap every made and come up with an average plus three standard deviations..:)
NEW: Senator Wyden just exposed which companies keep silent about government surveillance.
No = doesn't respect Americans' privacy rights.
Choose accordingly.

But Wyden didn't stop there.
He highlighted troubling evidence that when government-ordered surveillance of Senators took place, companies failed to notify Senators.

This is a bad, scary look for these companies. And it drives home the fact that Americans are often running blind when it comes to potential surveillance overreach.

um...boo hoo Wyden. I wonder where he stood regarding Snowden? Did he vote to make illegal surveillance into legal surveillance retroactively to save the government's ass?
I wonder how Wyden's "petard" feels today.
It’s here! New Orleans is notorious for being behind trends - cigar bars got here just as they were fading elsewhere, Starbucks got here only in the 21st century, but not this time! Presenting….LIVE facial recognition, with the claim that this is the first instance of its use in the USA. Of course this is the norm in Chinese cities and I doubt that it hasn’t already been in use in the USA, but maybe not with city government approval and support. Yay, New Orleans? :(

"Harry's Circumcision" by Lou Reed, from the album of the decade, "Magic and Loss".
I'm not a sad person, but I like sad songs. Counterbalance, I guess.
😥 Indeed. The greatest irony of all. I remember reading that the queen would routinely be pranked by schoolchildren when she made her rare visits to Australia - they once set a water fountain on her, and once the schoolkids all "mooned" her motorcade, but I guess that was many decades ago. Whither the Australians' rebel spirit?
🙄 crazy. Humans' inability to think in the abstract (i.e. "it's not affecting me at the moment, so I don't care) is truly saddening. It's the principle, not the act. As the poem goes, "first they came for the trade unionists, but I was not a member, so I didn't care"..:(
mine force closed my lightning node. 😥
"You could do the same thing with contracts for homeless shelters, parks, libraries, fixing pot holes, clean water projects, rural broadband, and any other public works project."
hehe yeah. "could". :)
Marv Throneberry baseball cards. IYKY are really old.
Unrealized capital gains taxes are coming to 🇦🇺 Australia.
However, politicians and their staff, judges, and police are exempt.

This is absolutely bonkers to me. Either this is a lie/misconstruction or Australians are rioting in the streets and burning down the homes of politicians, judges and police and it's not being reported.
If I am wrong, please introduce me to a pretty Australian girl (and there are lots of them). I promise to treat them better than that and I'll still get everything I ever dreamed of. :)

Just.A.Thought,& @e_galv "If it's not voting, then what is the solution?" 1. Your vote does not affect policy. Money and lobbying do. This was never a solution, but a charade to maintain the status quo, gain your consent, keep you divided, and legitimize the criminal enterprise which is the government. 2. If your only solution to government, is government, then you have no solution to begin with. 3. When you ask others "what is the solution", you give away your power. You rely on others to solve problems that affect you. Stop looking elsewhere and start looking within. 4. There are SO many things that we can do outside of voting. We can organize, protest, boycott, strike, build alternative systems, support one another in community, fund mutual aid, engage in mass noncompliance. The list is endless. 5. No one has ever voted themselves out of oppression. Ever. Liberation from oppression is not a mutual agreement. It's not an ask. It's not a compromise. It's a demand. Stop pretending otherwise. 12:22 PM • Oct 17, 2024 • 21.7K Views

Exactly. The most hilarious part is the "primary" for the major parties. Political parties are literally corporations. tax-exempt corporations, but corporations.
Just like M&M/Mars is a corporation. When they throw "primaries", these are just travelling road shows to drum up money. Parties have no legal obligation whatsoever to accept any particular platform, nor any particular candidate. The parties choose platforms and candidates that will benefit the party, mostly financially, not "the people". Even though a lot of Republicans hate Trump, his fund raising and influence potential are high enough that they nominated him anyway.
So what about "the people"? You (I'd say "we", but I do not participate in the national shower curtain festival) are the customer. Just like someone who buys Peanut M&M's is to M&M/Mars. Sure, M&M's wants to sell a lot of M&M's, and the company may even have polls every once in a while to choose a new colour, but those polls aren't binding, and just because you like peanut M&M's, you don't get to choose the CEO. The corporate leadership chooses the direction of the corporation, not the consumers.
No sat-shaming! 😂
Now you know how I feel. They were a dime when i was a kid. They went directly from 10 cents to 15 cents - a 50% hike - and then all uphill from there lol.

“Who knows? If there is in fact, a heaven and a hell, all we know for sure is that hell will be a viciously overcrowded version of Phoenix — a clean well lighted place full of sunshine and bromides and fast cars where almost everybody seems vaguely happy, except those who know in their hearts what is missing... And being driven slowly and quietly into the kind of terminal craziness that comes with finally understanding that the one thing you want is not there. Missing. Back-ordered. No tengo. Vaya con dios. Grow up! Small is better. Take what you can get...”
- Hunter S Thompson
...and while you were all looking at REAL ID..
“You’re now required to have an account with login.gov or id.me.
This mandatory change simplifies your sign-in experience and aligns with federal authentication standards while providing you safe and secure access to our online services.
You can immediately start using your login.gov account to access online services. Your old username will no longer be available.”
The "password to use the internet has been born". Along with REAL ID, the "singularity" is indeed here. One button denial of all services rather than messy having to shut down more than one login or e-mail is almost here!
Get ready kids.
hehe you have a twitter account..."L" 😃
Two headlines that describe government in a nutshell:
Permit now required for new residential roofs in New Orleans
Ramp connecting Earhart Boulevard to Broad Street closed due to collapse risk
All I can say us that this reminded me of a phrase that sat at the back of my classroom in high school:
"Zapatero, a tus zapatos!"
TBH any store of value is a misallocation, but this is where we are. The Romans had no access to the internet, so they used metal. We use "math and electricity" as if those resources and those that produce them - oil, radioactive material, et cetera - are somehow less destructive, but the choice is much like the two party system, a "lesser of two evils".
