My #solar battery doesn't have an easy API (unless I want to start learning AWS Cognito) - but it is easy enough to automate screenshotting.
Here's how our panels and battery performed on this wet and miserable day.

Important part of how Selenium works for Unit, System, and Regression testing.
I don’t know the ‘intended’ reason, but in all of my exposure to it, they’ve been useful in that they don’t trigger filters or certain extensions. I’m pretty sure it’s to emulate unpredictable CSS selector behaviour, and it’s done at runtime for automated testing.
You can work it around with with Regex, and I’ve had to on occasion, but in general it’s usually worth playing by the Selenium rules for the sake of your own sanity.
nostr:npub1u0zwym39375temydu688gzrxp2aqnhr0yek6u286kfxsyjg46mjst5fuse I'm just using Selenium to screen-shot some data. The site isn't mine, so I'm just getting unreasonably annoyed.
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk It's CSS modules: https://css-tricks.com/css-modules-part-1-need/ - so they (allegedly) don’t need to worry about scope or CSS of one bit interfering with another bit.
nostr:npub15c3n2edatqauwtm8wgknrnemxwxa5kar8sswq6sngnjmkwszuxtsnhkl09 bah! CSS was a mistake. Plain text FTW!
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk Luckily it's up in the loft, so I get a pass. It nearly wasn't though.
I was thinking the other day, I wish I'd got them to come through the ceiling into my office - then I could more easily serial into the inverter 😃
nostr:npub1hudmds40lmwcyvjxm2f0ytvz4evnjawas3azuknwcajy8sz2mx4qup79j0 MY inverter came with WiFi and Ethernet - so I ran a homeplug up there.
I've spent the evening learning #Selenium - quite good fun being able to manipulate the web and take screenshots using #Python.
But what's really cheesing me off if non-semantic class names. Seriously - what genius came up with a framework which dumps random strings into nice orderly HTML properties?

nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk That's a much nicer looking unit than mine, although they're both using the same batteries under the hood.
Mine is basically just a small rack with batteries sat in it
nostr:npub1hudmds40lmwcyvjxm2f0ytvz4evnjawas3azuknwcajy8sz2mx4qup79j0 It's all about the SAF (Spouse Acceptability Factor), innit?
Is yours in a trafficked location - or up in a loft?
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk would you make use of a bigger battery? We are looking at a ~400WP system and they're giving us options of 6.4 or 9.6kWh batteries - what would you go for?
nostr:npub19t7x37fmy4raexcg9glxrlsceet5nlrust8dg04mv6e7puqaufaqn4ag8n
As I said in the blog post, we've upgraded from 2kWh to a 4.8kWh system.
Our average daily usage is about 10kWh - but we only get that much excess in summer.
If you can get a flexible tariff, then you can charge cheaply.
I don't know where you are in the world, or your daily usage, so don't feel comfortable advising.
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk It may or may not be relevant, but July's build for flox (the repartitioned 2013 Nexus 7) appears to have been somewhat slow and unstable. A upgrade to this months build serms to fix it. I wonder if it was something like that that was giving you bad results.

I'll give it a go, ta!
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk I wish for EU legislation (sorry, I know, too soon with Brexit) that forces companies who run devices on local networks to open up their protocols, so you can still use/own your devices once the company cloud services close. I can’t connect to my EV charger at all other than through their sucky app (https://gist.github.com/tomayac/754284dd79e20147f482d932ed89f2a1), and my solar panel gateway is accessible locally, but gated on a cloud login (https://github.com/tomayac/enphase-solar).
nostr:npub13uszupcvaqqnfpvecy2p09fu0w2s0df7f9k86fkjv3lzakygywasau53yp TBH, I think that's a consumer thing. You should have purchased a device which met your needs.
That's why I chose a specific solar inverter - because I knew Fronius had excellent local support.
I could have paid extra for a battery with a direct API - but I'm happy working around that.
nostr:npub1uxszjpsyqfx5fjzulaktunyle7tl0r9jn0nj3h97vm2r5v2xsukqn87sm4 nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk also curious about this - I'm in the UK and will want a battery installed soon enough, and it'd be reassuring to know it would work even if the leccy went off (for a bit)
nostr:npub1wl0tzswcyamc27vm2c77lltf5l3kqq443tmp8gws2qmy3vdw8ljqlzpv54 nostr:npub1uxszjpsyqfx5fjzulaktunyle7tl0r9jn0nj3h97vm2r5v2xsukqn87sm4 You *could* but the inverters need to sync up to the same frequency as the grid in order to work.
The max discharge of the battery is 2.4kW - so you risk brown-outs if your load is higher.
Some batteries provide a dedicated DC circuit for low power electronics.
But better to buy a cheap UPS if that's what you need.
🆕 blog! “Review: Moixa 4.8kWh Solar Battery”
I have upgradeitis. If something newer and shinier comes out, my stupid monkey-brain compels me to buy it. Seven years ago, we installed a solar battery. It was part of an experimental project which looked at creating a community power-grid, so it came at a subsidised price. As I explained to BBC Click, the 2k…

nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk took a bunch of photos on a recent trip to Walton. Went to upload and found they'd already been bagged and tagged 🥲
nostr:npub1w8mwpdazyulg52hx428e3xn3mhy8qw4l3zv9tq4emz00nclurqmq96f4mr we thank you for your service!
You can edit the benches and upload new photos if you like?
New feature on https://openbenches.org/
Added multiple map styles so you can more easily see where benches are, and how to navigate to them.
I've left the controller open by default so that people know what options are available.
If you're out for a walk today and spot any memorial benches - please snap a photo and upload it 🙂

nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk does OTG make sense for USB-C?
nostr:npub1x8p4fpqev4verngg4w5wjmuxwyrhzlq9ukm4zmedkp4dl0x7mnus0qg0qc yes. I have one for my Android phone. I plug it in to the phone, then I can control it with a keyboard and mouse.
nostr:npub1x8p4fpqev4verngg4w5wjmuxwyrhzlq9ukm4zmedkp4dl0x7mnus0qg0qc is it an OTG adapter? What happens if you plug in a keyboard or mouse?
Next step in my #solar battery journey is to get API access so I can start drawing graphs like this.
The app/website shows how much electricity our home generates, stores, buys, and uses.
Yesterday, for example, we only paid for electricity when cooking. The rest of the day (and night!) we used self-generated power.
I'll use this to work out how much money the battery saves us.

Nice! Looks like the #solar battery spits out a max of 2.35kW.
So our oven only needs to draw a few hundred watts from the grid.

Took 6 hours to charge the battery from 35%-100%.
Fairy standard WFH day - lots of computer use, but no domestic appliances.
Going to use the oven and see how quickly the battery responds to increased power use.
Hopefully eating #solar cooked pizza tonight 😆

nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk I mainly use #Lemmy (infosec.pub) though I have accounts on both. I can sub to #kbin magazines (communities) from Lemmy (and vice versa) so it doesn’t matter which you pick. Lemmy seems to be more mature so it’s the better experience so far for me. Both are run by nostr:npub12lxtr540euchz3wpu4l745spze9fesue5lcentzceegq04ftzzxsajjvjy so nothing to compare on the admin front (and you know they are well run).
nostr:npub19lt4284mghqxekzm6n5njxurnxrxhqhrva2leusdsuu5ja5jeycq66qfjk I have accounts with a number of instances, but use Lemmy.world the most. It is huge, growing and can sometimes be unstable, but the devs seem committed to making it the best. Lemdro.id is a good newer instance that seems well run. Beehaw.org is a good instance that has a more sanitized philosophy (only select communities, no down voting and a lot less NSFW content).
For Kbin, I believe Kbin.social is the way to go. I was also using reddit.buzz which is shutting down (maybe the one you are referring to?)
