Weird that they celebrate the American holiday of Christmas there. Must have gone over with McDonalds and Coca-Cola and the Eurodollar...

Be sure to tell them about how our flag represents Jesus' blue eyes, white skin, and red blood, they'll love that.

I had initial set up issues with Fountain as well but their support was great at helping resolve things on the back end. The transition was not without bumps but they're a very helpful team.

Given that its Ledger and they are backdoored if it's possible anywhere he's in the right place. Not that they'd want to admit to it if he wasn't using Ledger Recover, even if they can do it...

I think nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch will be my go-to site for introducing others to sending and receiving bitcoin and lightning payments.

Trying to see what is the easiest, most seamless process for new Bitcoiners.

Of course there is @cashapp which is even more seamless but I’m talking sites or applications with a bit more privacy and self-sovereignty.

Would you agree or are there better options out there for newbies? #asknostr

Strike.me has built in Lightning support and is an on ramp with the lowest expenses around, but is KYC and custodial. I don't recall doing KYC setting up Speed.app as long as the sats are acquired elsewhere, but I may be misremembering.

Sounds like they're basically doing KYC on gift cards, undermining your reason for using them.

We can buy them in stores for cash but that may vary by geography.

Not surprised though. Gift cards have always been a bigger avenue for money laundering than Bitcoin itself, and there have been lawsuits trying to make companies more responsible for their misuse.

I'd be wary of trading KYC'ed gift cards for sats; you may get a knock on the door if it's at all wrapped up in say, ransomware scams for a common possibility.

#GM plebs. was out at Sammy Obeid waaaay past my bedtime last night for having to get up before 4 a.m., but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Sammy's stage presence is absolutely next level, and the #Boston crowd was so electric I really wish I'd had an antminer to take advantage of it. Didn't get a #Bitcoin joke out of him yet -- might need to get him talking to nostr:npub1gdu7w6l6w65qhrdeaf6eyywepwe7v7ezqtugsrxy7hl7ypjsvxksd76nak to get in touch with #Palestinian history of flipping the tables of money changers (and the imperial history of currency debasement, #Jesus). He was recording for a upcoming special, so y'all will be able to see that show in its entirety when that drops.

Anyway, 4 hours of sleep later I'm definitely participating in #coffeechain., but glad tomorrow is the last day of this shortened workweek. All you terrorizzts stay beautiful out there. #FreePalestine

Custodial is actually more common than not for a zap wallet, as running Lightning is nontrivial. Being KYC is the bigger issue.

It goes with being an onramp so more power to that mission. But if you know enough to be asking the questions you probably know enough to go with another option, too.

Didnt know Strike was on the backend. Love them as an exchange. I'd just as soon keep my exchange and my zaps separate.

Sup #Boston. Living the geolocation feature in Amethyst to see y'all here. Hitting up the Wilbur tonight for Sammy Obeid.

I was just poking around on Coracle and saw that there's some movement happening in Groups. Flotilla.social may be exactly the sort of Nostr client you're looking for for a smooth experience. Brand new approach, looks like a snazzy interface.

Is that Celcius or Freedom units?

'I'm in need for her' just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Codependency's a bitch.
