Though, I suppose criminal here could mean "not permitted under international law," whereas "terrorism" is usually the word they use to mean "legitimate armed resistance against illegal occupation by the people we're busy displacing." Something tells me though that's not what they meant.

It does, but I don't think most Americans anyway don't realize that you pay capital gains on foreign currency too -- there are just de minimis rules if the gains on a personal transaction are below $200.

This would probably be enough for most people to be okay with though (though of course getting rid of capital gains entirely would be nice if you ask me). The idea of needing to itemize out every coffee or ebook is just plain ridiculous. I half suspect we should all make a point of doing so as a way to DDoS the IRS, but it's probably worth being careful going down that road unless you're REALLY sure you're audit proof.

If you use lightning to transfer to the exchange (either entirely, or with a submarine swap through something like Boltz), then if you end up with "wrong sats" it's because you got them from the exchange itself.

They're going to just start looking sillier and sillier especially as those coins go into and out of lightning nodes. Chain analysis is just a scam to milk money from people who don't understand its limitations.

It'll suck for a little while for sure. But eventually we'll all have wrong sats.

That all said, if you want to be sure you've got good plausible deniability, bring all of your sats that you are processing through an exchange (through things like bill pay services or using to buy fiat) through lightning. Go through Boltz or some other liquidity provider with a submarine swap, to your lightning address, and if you somehow end up with wrong sats, well...you got them from the exchange itself.

What kind of wood is that? Looks nice and straight with very few knots -- I'm jealous.

Been working my way through a few cords of red oak myself, though less with the snow everywhere. Not so lucky on the knots. But, at least it's not cherry (or elm!).

Curious how many people have been given similar sentences for denying the Nakba. Guessing it's a pretty round number. Perhaps more of an egg shape.

The hypocrisy of these Rousseau following totalitarians knows no bounds.

Cool. Better to look at the verifiable behavior of the governments over there: https://apnews.com/article/eu-right-belgium-extremism-langenhove-82d44caa76bbada7da99f8c01f7762d2

Everyone knows that the best way to fight totalitarianism is to censor speech and burn books.

I know people aren’t fans of seeing X content on here, but this is too insane not to share… WTF is wrong with Europe?

ā€œThe dangers of A.I. are abstract for many people, but for me, they are very real.

In two weeks, I face years in prison because the government used an A.I. tool on a groupchat I was allegedly a member of and which was literally called "shitposting".

Their A.I. tool gave every message a 'toxicity score' and concluded most of the messages were toxic.

One of my alleged messages was "Some cultures are inferior, backwards cultures that still practice Female Genital Mutilation, for example". This message got a 100/100 toxicity score and 100/100 for sexism and 100/100 for racism. Yes, this was considered sexist by the A.I. (a punishable offence in Belgium)

Almost all of the messages the A.I. bot concluded to be 'toxic', are completely wrong. Every sentence that included "an African" was deemed racist, for example. Every sentence with "leftist tears" got 100/100 toxicity.

I (allegedly) quoted a black journalist who said something racist, but the A.I. bot does not understand this and attributed the quote to me, adding to the 'total toxicity score' that got me 1 year in jail and a 16.000 EUR fine.

There is no serious way to defend yourself against this, as the Public Prosecutor will use the 'Total Toxicity Score' as his 'evidence', instead of going over all the supposedly toxic quotes.

The Public Prosecutor's definition of 'shitposts' is also crazy: "Shitposts are deliberately insulting messages ment to provocate".

My appeal is next week.ā€

The problem with Europe is that the people don't have nearly enough firearms.

Okay, the Oi Ocha Koicha did turn out to be a very impressive iced green tea, particularly for something coming out of a bottle. Sadly couldn't find the Himemaru snacks but did get a mix that included some similar style that I can see the allure of particularly paired with that tea's flavor. Cheers on the suggestion -- it was a snack that hit the spot after a few hours of hiking around in the snow.

Looking at Russian history, both at former leaders and centuries of British and Polish aggression, between the forces that a Russian leader must counteract and how his predecessors fared, he seems pretty above average.

More partial to nori maki arare myself. Feels like they're not as easy to find as they were 15 years ago, though H-Mart always comes through.

Haven't tried that bottled green tea though -- usually stick to brewing my own hot. Think I've seen this brand and H-Mart too though, so I may have to try this combo sometime

Cuddling by the fire. #petstr #dogstr

Ben, with all of the recent news about planes, you sure you don't want to take a train?

That said, if I were to get on one, I'd probably want a movie about courage. Maybe Fearless, with Jet Li, or The Fountain, with Hugh Jackman.

Beyond that, hard to go wrong with something by Akira Kurosawa or Masaki Kobayashi.

Dude, leave some for the rest of us.

During the pandemic I just got to hear about all that stuff second hand as I was working in a restaurant. Glad to say my Zoom is all done on a work owned computer -- not contaminating it with any personal stuff. Not that I employ Satoshi level opsec or anything, but "bring your whole self to work" is just a surveillance tactic anyway.

Glad to hear you can laugh it off of course. Life's too short to be mortified.
