The Conscious Contrarian challenges conventional wisdom to uncover new, more attuned principles and perspectives for navigating the future.

Why does Robinhood only allow 2”withdrawals of up to 5k of Bitcoin per day? Fractional reserves?

The content you’re putting out on your website is absolutely incredible! Thank you for all the work to help us become sovereign individuals!

Today is a great day to convince some people to get off zero.

Most people are very concerned with their illnesses but never worry about their health.

I know that you’re doing this more than most, so thank you for that! Mainly calling this out as a reminder for all of us. Stacking sats won’t be enough, we can’t forget the “stay humble” part.

#[1] Not all of them are idiots. We should be humble enough to ask what we’re missing to not understand why a Bitcoin strategy, while it makes all the sense in the world to us, is not an option for many of them yet.

#[0] “For the past decade, folks called me crazy for supporting Bitcoin because ‘inflation isn't a problem.’ For the past decade, folks called me crazy to suggest being your own bank because ‘banks are safe.’

It's bittersweet to be proven sane.”

#[2] California regulators close 🏦Silicon Valley Bank🏦 $SIVB in the "largest bank failure since the Great Recession," putting nearly $175 billion in customer deposits, including money from some of the biggest names in the technology world, under the control of the FDIC. Customers with deposits totaling more than $250,000,would be given certificates for their uninsured funds, meaning they would be among the first in line to be paid back — though potentially only partially.

We can all understand the enormous amount of pressure that #[6] feels in getting Damus off the ground. Though we can agree this is not sustainable as the projects scale, what has made Damus (and nostr) special is the ability to mention a dev on a bug or feature request and have them respond. Let’s face it, no one here is going to get a response from Elon (sorry even you #[7] ).

But the community showed its true colors by zapping Will with over 16m ⚡️sats. This is true value for value, and the ⚡️sats are the 📡signal.

This reminds though that we are all human, we all need help, and we all need to take breaks. We Bitcoiners and nostr early adopters are pioneers, we are on the Oregon Trail of our generation. The trail is not certain, it’s not easy, but we will find our way west to a better life. Carry on JB55 and the rest of the devs, we got your back.

I haven’t read his book yet but I’ve just finished a mind bending podcast he done with #[0] and I can understand why it’s confusing people, and why the thesis is probably being heavily rejected by Bitcoiners, Lowery is clearly stating the obvious through the fundamental forces of nature, people probably don’t want to accept the harsh realities of how nature works, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows… and if you cannot understand the connection between War & Money than you should probably take a closer look…

My personal opinion is that Bitcoin can be a weapon defence system which can be backed by the power projection game, but it could also be used to move us towards the ultimate peacemaking machine, so I find both sides of the argument right in a way, Bitcoin is ultimately just a powerful tool to be used, but it’s down to the humans to decide which route is taken.

My critique towards the thesis from what I understand is the emphasis and comparison between humans and the animal kingdom, it’s clearly evident that humans as of now are distinctively different in how we operate, communicate and build, humans in some sense have broken away from the traditional evolutionary model which animals follow, this is through the mysterious advent of language and the dawn of epigenetic evolution, where environmental changes are not through DNA and millions of years of evolution, but through conscious behaviours and responses, because of language we are able to create weird mouth noises and understand one another, language is not just in the form of acoustical pressure waves, but it can also be written and digitised, each carrier of epigenetic evolution can then process and advance the previous platform of knowledge.

Ultimately I believe Bitcoin is an extremely powerful tool, and that it’s down to whether humans can figure out that nature tends to favour cooperation & adaption.

Epigenetics is not a human phenomenon.

Our behavior, while significantly more complex than that of other animals, is not evidence that we’re different in any fundamental way. All the language you’re using and the games you’re playing ultimately serve the same simple purpose, namely procreation or survival of at least certain of your genes.

Has language taken on a dynamic of its own? Maybe (one of the most fascinating explorations of that is the book Snowcrash). Is that powerful enough to make the claim that humans are fundamentally different? I have yet to be convinced.

How are treasury yields down over the last two days? Has the FED already started to pivot in a massive way to calm the situation?

The experience of jumping seamlessly between different clients while using the same identity is awesome!

And crazy to think it’s just the beginning.

What to do first?

1) Move all BTC off exchange?

2) Move all cash out of the bank?

3) Use remaining cash to buy BTC and move all BTC off exchange?

Fair enough. Dumb follow up question: how do I know that what they have in their repo is the code they’re actually deploying?

Yeah I like that approach. People don’t want to be patronized by being given the solution.

ok, I should clarify: how do I verify without having great readability in any coding language…
