Turns out users actually like agency. They don't really want an app with a single button that tries to do everything for them, specially because they know the single-button won't really do what they actually want.

Indeed.

The perfect app has as many buttons as the user wishes to.

Probably abstracted through an AI.

I can already imagine screaming "I SAID ZAP THE NOTE! NOT EVERYONE ON THE THREAD!"

We all know you don't get it, and that's OK, it's your project. You make a lot of restrictive decisions for users man.

lol

What's funny? I've never seen you talk about this stuff before, I'd love to understand your reasoning.

But I have. I have been one of the strongest defenders of Amber, Citrine, Pokey, etc which could all have been just part of Amethyst. I even went so far on breaking Amethyst in 15 clients and 38 mini apps. It's just not out there because we need nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0 to do more to organize and automatically install things. One a microapp manager is developed, things will really heat up.

Well, I'm talking about some restrictive UX/UI design decisions in amethyst. I'm not saying you don't do a lot of good.

Agency > Sovereignty > Autarky

I’m pretty sure it’s a spectrum from max agency to no agency. Most people I assume are at the mid point with a bell distribution curve. Depends what markets you target, but for max distribution its best to be around the mid point

I was thinking about this in relation to interfaces. Customization was in the digital world from the beginning, because it was built by devs, they were different, like all people, and they understood that different people are comfortable with different things. Managers set the trend of deciding for the user what and how it should look because. Years later, they implement customization. Turns out users actually want to be in charge in their screens. Trying to create a universal app with one button is just trying to create a walled garden. It will fall.

i tried to point this out many times but i get ravaged by designers. oh well, didnt stop me.

Simultaneously designing for agency AND great UX is literally unimaginable for many.

Totally possible though.

You gotta embrace becoming both a designer and a developer.

I did though πŸ˜… This was literally my best efforts to cross the design chasm while building full stack. (and it works in all mobile browsers, show me any other app does that) πŸ˜…

its good for a first. just keep at it. you'll only get better. build at least a dozen iterations and kept asking for critiques.

You are obviously wrong. Look at keyboards, totally failed idea that never took off an nobody uses because it has too many buttons.

All one ever needs is + or -

Computers for example know this all to well.

Depends on their age. Boomers don't want to use their brain
