Was able to visit via tor - no account though, and not going the email nonsense to get an account. When tapped "why email needed" - access forbidden.

Looks cool. Would love to try it. Get serious about respecting privacy first.

Now tell all of the relay operators to stop using cloudflare

Isn't that the issue? I'm not well versed in these terms, but I think I've seen them put together...

Cool new avatar

i concur with the literal nazi on this one... cloudflare is 💩

also now i am writing a relay spider to eat all the relay lists, profiles, follows and mutes of users whitelisted on #realy i am bumping into several different kinds of bullshit, the most annoying is the "oh, just wait a second for a request for 20-40 literal user's relay lists"

will be skipping those ones in the code next thing i do to it

i don't even have spam or traffic problems on my relay because only my follows and their follows can read and write to it, and a large number of them don't use nip-65 enabled relay lists properly so they don't send their replies or DMs to my relay correctly to respond to me

Hey I'm just mashing buttons, nobody told me I have to know what the buttons mean..

“The literal Nazi” 😂😂😂😂

I am a subscriber and they don't block VPN access

tried tor after reading this and got x

"access forbidden"

not a good look

but still better than using Google

yeah, i have been getting this

thats what I got too

Here's the direct link to the "why we need an email" doc. They also welcome the use of aliases, which is nice.

https://help.kagi.com/kagi/faq/faq.html#why-does-kagi-search-require-an-email-address

Same same. Don't judge my tabs

Hmm... Not sure why that's happening for you. It's smooth sailing on my end, including over tor. Maybe you should reset your circuit and try again?

it just worked for me too

weird because I got the forbidden error on the same device 30 minutes ago

I think it's an issue with your specific tor nodes. Whenever I get a website that doesn't load, and generates an error, I'm able to fix it nearly always by resetting my tor circuit so a new set of nodes is used. The restrictions are probably related to some issue with the exit node.

I learned something... In Orbot, hitting "refresh" does fuckall... Did it three times, never got through. Turned it entirely off, waited, then on, and got through.

Now how do I pester Orbot...

That refresh function doesn't do a goddammed thing. Neither does requesting a new identity. In my experience, you have to stop then start the tor connection.

Good to know

And sorry for the false alarm

A lot of these quirky things are just a matter of trial and error. You gotta beat it on from every angle til it does what you want. Lol

I think this is false. I just logged into my Kagi account using Tor Browser and successfully executed searches.

ok ok

interesting

it's brave browser, not sure if that has anything to do with it... i've only ever got this response from it when i use the search plugin

Maybe try turning off Brave Shield. Brave puts all sorts of stuff between you and the URL you're trying to reach. It's one of the reasons I don't like using it.

there is a bypass in the hamburger menu of the clearnet page that gives you a session link that works in tor/private windows

if they implement nostr auth this could eliminate the friction for this

I just tried searching with Brave by logging into my Kagi account rather than you the browser extension, and it worked just fine. Maybe try that?

if i go to https://kagi.com i get the same message, it's not the search browser etension, which is not enabled on tor windows anyway

i can navigate just fine to google's search page
