nostr has been the primary place where i post for the sole reason of it being the easiest way to release my thoughts. a diary of sorts. in my life i’ve never wanted “fame” or “fortune”, going on social media is knowing that basically every person on there wants that. not on nostr though. being a pleb is celebrated, not discouraged.

i work a blue collar, labor intensive job. all i want in life is the joy of having a family, and being surrounded by family & friends. nostr is the only place where i see people who don’t care about having a material fueled life, with big egos, and an obsession with fame. for that i’ll always stay.

Thing is, the other social networks also have plebs who don't want fame. But you never see their posts, because the algorithms only show you the preening showoffs. It's not that every person wants that, its that the algos only show you the people who want that.

Good take

The word "pleb" comes from the Latin word "plebs," which means "common people." It was originally used to refer to the plebeians, a social class in ancient Rome that was distinct from the patricians, the upper class. The plebeians were initially excluded from government and from holding certain public offices, but they eventually gained more rights and power.

The word "pleb" began to be used in a derogatory way in the 18th and 19th centuries, especially in British public schools. It was used to describe pupils who were not members of the landed classes.

Today, the word "pleb" is still used in a derogatory way to describe someone who is considered to be unsophisticated, uncultured, or lower class. However, it can also be used in a more neutral or even affectionate way.

For example, on the social media platform Nostr, the term "pleb" is often used to describe new or inexperienced users. This is not meant to be insulting, but rather to acknowledge that everyone has to start somewhere.

In general, it is important to be mindful of the context in which the word "pleb" is used. If it is used in a derogatory way, it is best to avoid using it yourself

Go away patrician bot.
