probably been said before but if nostr somehow didnt grow or change anymore I would keep using it eagerly.

without growth it would slowly wither away. People will get bored of the same conversations and someone will leave. Then another, and another. That could trigger a bunch of people leaving and that would mark the end.
You absolutely need new people joining for a thing to even sustain itself. Not to mention the infrastructure doesn't pay itself and I'm not talking about relays.
I disagree. I've had a lot of the same friends for years and we still have some of the same conversations but we also share new things with each other.
Some of them have left and a few new ones joined but it's not any bigger of a group than it was a decade ago.
i find that you grow more as a person with a more varying environment, but that's just a matter of personal taste
I think it's different in person. Online you don't really know anyone enough to stick around. And those that do will succumb to degraded experiences with introduction of bugs and lack of maintenance

I hear ya. In some ways, Nostr is a bit taxing on the mind. Way more people with contrarian opinions, and requires a lot more analysis. Really easy to get into groupthink and just accept any opposing view as correct, but that would be a mistake.

The community NIP is weak. I tried starting a community and it was just not feasible. Reddit just works. When nostr can just work, we'll see a reddit-like client.

I think I was trying it on sattelite.earth.
I don't remember exactly the issues, but moderation is not good and something about notes getting mixed with other kinds. Would have to try again to identify that issue but it was an instant red light for me.

It's stupid really. You are taking the choice out of person's hands. So what, I am supposed to automatically broadcast everything I post in other communities, all the music I listen to, the streams I am watching? Have a share button... sure, but not automatically broadcast it.
I can't control what a client displays, but I don't want to see random non-community replies in my community. Nor would I want to spam my followers with content not intended for them because they don't share those interests.

Imo it should stay kind 1s but clients should differentiate between community posts and normal notes and not show the former.

What makes communities special is that a group of people share the same interest and you feel a sort of a bond there. You can talk about things and people get it, unlike the general population. Besides, it can be weird stuff that most people won't relate to. I think it's really important that people have to join communities to participate in them, even if it's something as trivial as clicking a join button. Otherwise it's not really a community and you're broadcasting your random niche interests to everyone.
