On the one hand, I love that.
On the other, I worry that Nostr will eventually only have one app and therefore cease to be a protocol.
nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is working on this, I think he is getting close as I've seen his recent notes mentioning his productivity decrease.

Am I the only one who worried about that? That we could end up without a protocol because everyone uses one SuperApp for everything?
Like Nostr becomes WeChat or something.
Yeah agreed. We have money, most forms of media, AI stuffs, private messages (ha), event organization. Ideally we take over email, so effective all forms of online communication. Code exchange/collaboration. We have classifieds and online stores, tor, wikis.
I can't think of much that we do on the internet that can't be done, or at least some parts relayed on nostr.
The silver lining is that until Reddit and Xitter shut down their APIS a non-zero amount of developers were running clients and other tools relying on their siloed networks. So until the big corps said no way jose, hackers still found a way to decrappify them.
Nostr takes over all communication channels and we all use Damus. The end. π
Sounds ridiculous, but also very possible.
I do increasingly feel like I'm part of some Nostr Darkweb, for the rebels who don't use TheBigThree.
Same. I have an rss reader for nostr subreddit and I'll comment there, but nostr is the only social media I interact with outside of that. I purged all apps and sign-ins with anything else I used.
Extremely probably imo. Wait till some VCs get their dirtly little hands on one of these products and attempts to force legacy monetization and tracking features.
Thats my only fear.
Nostr today is not even a drop in the bucket.
Letβs focus on non-consumers of nostr, who are presumably human, and have each their own preferences on what app theyβll use!
Humans don't actually differ that much. Just need AI to find the precise combination that they prefer and you're basically done.
Only a few freaks (like me) will refuse the offer.
there is strong competition for clients, having someone continue to raise the bar is good for everyone. I hope that others can keep up, but the key is supporting the alternatives rather than holding back the frontrunner.
