Hear me out... each planet should maybe have its own timechain
Discussion
Sounds like shitcoins.
I know but thinking about syncing the timechain across planetary distances seems impossible without FTL communication
Side chains. Each planet gets it's own side chain 21 million and if you travel planets, you peg in and out of the side chain. Everything should tie to layer 1 from earth.
So think liquid but instead it's Mars Bitcoin, and to get M-BTC you have to peg in BTC. But the side chains need a tie to L1 somehow that's not federated like liquid. Each Planet having it's own federation doesn't sound great... How does that happen? A fork... More op codes?
This is interesting for sure. The liquid approach makes sense
Yes already have this worked out go read some old BitcoinTalk posts
Just have to implement when we do go to mars
BTW from ~12 years ago
Can you summarize what the plan is? I don't know how I could find those posts
Lookup how to mine bitcoin in space and how gossiping would work
TLDR is we technically need a new chain, but we can source the start of that new chain with Bitcoin, then gossip that network back to earth to show were on the same block height.
Again the limit here is transmitting data at speed of light
Forgive me in my lack of clarification this is way above my experience level, but do know many have discussed and worked the maths out for this. Just gotta test
Look out into the night sky, every black hole you see is a civilization that previously discovered absolute scarcity.
Marscoin coming thru
relative to the time it takes to go around the sun maybe?
They probably do. Because us humans in this civilization do not go with the actual time of the universe. Our time structure was constructed by man to enslave us. Plus the other planets are beyond the ice wall no up up in the skies
I have been thinking the same thing, but we don't really have to worry about it until we start colonizing them or finding life elsewhere
I’ve been thinking about this. I think each planet will have its own time chain for sure.
I think people will be hashing earth-bitcoin entirely in earth’s gravity well. The moon is about a light second away, which means the speed of light based latency will cost you maybe 2/10tof a percent of your net revenue when hashing on the moon. That grows the further way you get.
Now, when it comes to where people will store their money, who live on Mars, transactions will definitely be slower if they are using the earth bitcoin time chain, but using the time chain of the place with the highest rate will be valuable for security and also for maximizing the likelihood that the time chain will keep operating.
I think some people will want their assets on the Martian time chain because they expected to grow, I suppose this would be a speculative play at the future value of the martian time chain.
I think this probably also means that asteroid belt minors will have regional time chains. Because the sign is too far away, maybe the asteroid belt would be split up into tens of different regions. I think asteroid belt time chains that would happen a lot later than a flourishing Martian time chain.
As we go out to other stars, I think it’s very unlikely that people will still try to use a time chain whose transactions require years and maybe decades of centuries to settle.
