I started keto 4 days ago. Felt pretty ill one of those days. Today I feel better than I have in a long time. Down about 4 pounds as well. Win win. #grownostr and #shrinkwaistlines.

You can do it! 👏

Thanks coach!

😂 good one 😂

Great work! Just remember that 4 lbs in 4 days is only the initial bit and is not sustainable.

Don't get discouraged when it changes to ~ 0.25 - 1 pound a week, which is a much more sustainable and healthy weight loss goal.

And you will have days where the number goes up instead of down. Don't think day to day, think week by week.

Weight change goals should be like stacking sats: DCA good habits and don't focus on the price (or number on the scale). Don't let the volatility freak you out, zoom out.

Keep up the proof of work.

😎✌️🤙

Thanks for the advice

Make sure you have a decent belt ready unless you can afford to buy all new clothes!

I've got a good one

And get a leather hole punch ready for your belt too. You can make a hole with a knife but by the time you are on your 3-4 hole a nice cleanly cut hole looks a lot better and will make the belt last longer.

It's actually a utility belt like Batman. I'll just have to get rid of a few compartments. I'll probably start with the donut holster.

Yeah, switch it out for the biltong dispenser 👍

"keto flu" is a thing.

I'm down 80 lbs. keep it up!

Nice one. I don't think I can do 80, but 30 would be good.

Be sure you keep your salt intake higher than normal. Electrolytes follow salt out of your body as you loose that early water weight and can give you that keto flu wiped out feeling. It can lead to bigger electrolyte imbalances and things like leg cramps.

Thank you

Cool! How do you define keto for yourself (carbs allowed per day)? I am just starting to reduce carbs for health reasons but not (yet?) to keto level as defined by most. It's tough for me, bc after being vegetarian for several years, I feel forced into eating animals I know probably had sh***y lives, bc to get enough protein on a real-food veg diet (especially as an athlete), too many carbs come along for the ride, and regen/humane meat is just too $$ and hard to verify. Why does the modern food system make it so hard to eat healthfully and ethically?? You have to be so vigilant just to avoid added sugar. 😔 Sorry to vent... and good luck on your keto journey!

For me it means avoiding as many carbs as possible. I'm eating high fat (mostly animal). I'm not counting carbs but would imagine I'm around 20g a day.

As for the expense of eating well, I believe that is partially by design. An unhealthy herd is more reliant on the Shepard. It is also a major benefit to pharmaceutical companies.

I hope you find your path and feel free to vent anytime along the way.

Wow. That is definitely full-on keto! I hope it keeps working for you.

And agreed about an unhealthy herd. Except most actual shepherds are better off when their herd is healthy. The incentives in our current system are completely backward. 🙁
