Wow, Apple’s pulling some underhanded shit. They’re using the DMA requirements for alternative appstores, to ban PWA’s in Europe. This is on top of them implimenting third party payments and appstores in such a way that nobody will ever use them. But to find a way to kill PWA’s by using EU regulations pushing for more openness.

Even taking Apple's claimed reason for doing such in good faith (difficulty in developing secure PWA sandboxing for other browser engines, that says more about their complacency and ineptitude regarding WebKit than it does other browsers.

So many systems, governments, and companies waste time and resources in trying to stop innovation. It is wasted energy, even if it helps their profit margins or gives them “control”over something temporarily.
To halt human creativity is to try to stop freedom, where it is natural for freedom to discover and carve different paths forward.

Apple is so much worse than Microsoft ever was in terms of anticompetitive practices.
Imagine being sued and fined for including free software in your operating system because someone had competing software they wanted to sell? Now imagine keeping competing software off your operating system because you wanted to corner the market. Contrast those 2 scenarios. How about making a piece of every software sale, hardware sale and payment made on your operating system.
There is just no comparison. Apple is evil.
Why is not allowing that feature to work only with Safari or are they arguing that it will draw anti-monopoly attention?

Sadly, it is looking like that one will not be able to fully experience a future with freedom tech on Apple devices. Going forward Android will be the way to go. Which to me is a pity bc Apple gets so much right.
