I literally can’t turn my iPhone off, and guided access is greyed out for no apparent reason. I’ve closed all apps and disconnected all wireless in my testing.

Having a “power off” function that is software based is the dumbest design choice imaginable. I have grown to hate recent tech trends more and more.

Seriously how does you *power button* malfunction? “Try turning it off and on again” - well guess what?

Oh, you need to buy the Apple branded wireless Bluetooth 'off button'. It's $99. But it's $350 per year.

😂🤣🧡

They don’t want you to be able to turn it off. Deliberate design choice lol

Don’t you have a power button on the right side of the phone? You just press that at the same time at the up volume button on the left side. That doesn’t work?

Can't even take battery out now 🤦‍♂️🫂

Try Hard reset yet?

Have you tried using a rock or something on it?

Wen Nostr phone

Just remove your battery… Oh wait. Yeah it’s all fucked.

You probably tried this already but hold volume up and right button?

If he's used to android it's possible he hasn't tried the combination.

I did, but the shut down option at the bottom of general settings worked, despite the button options not wanting to do their job.

When in doubt ask Siri to turn herself off.

I've never like Macs because you had to ask permission to remove the 3¼ inch floppy disk. You had to press the Apple button + [E] & then wait for the machine to eject it.

I don't think I've used a Mac for more than an hour or 2 since 1994. I guess I don't like asking permission from hardware.

BTW - Holding the volume up button with the power button should force an iPhone to turn OFF.

Put it in a Farraday bag is the workaround

Yes, inside of a sound proof vault ideally, for when you don't want it spying on you.

Go to Settings > General > Shut Down, and then use the "Slide to power off" slider.

Try this

Appreciate it. This actually worked.

Fiat tech. Also useful for surveillance.
