I love it that on nostr when you stop to look at someone’s note, article, video, etc, it doesn’t automatically benefit them financially by way of views and impressions. If it turns out to be a good post I like, then I can zap it. But if it’s just crap, then why would I want it to benefit them that I paid it a little attention? On other platforms it would help them toward earning ad revenue. But I n nostr, it doesn’t help them at all because as soon as I realize it’s crap, I keep scrolling and give them nothing. 😂🫡

Your zap crusade has converted me to zapping when I feel tempted to press the like button. If it’s costing me too many sats (there is a LOT of funny and impressive content) absolutely nothing stops me from reducing the amount I zap accordingly. For me this is an empowering way to participate. So … thanks, and keep crusading. 🗡️
I say this because I just wasted time reading a crap article someone wrote here and the last thing I’d want is to think they benefited in any material way from the attention I gave it 😂🤣

💯 agree, I don't feel bad for accidentally stumbling upon a bad post and contributing to their impressions metrics...
Our attention is our scarcest resource. Allocate accordingly

Time is gonna take so much away
But there's a way that time can offer you a trade
Time is gonna take so much away
But there's a way that time can offer you a trade
You gotta do something that you can get nicer at
You gotta do something that you can get wiser at
You better do something that you can get better at
Cause that's the only thing that time will leave you with
Cause time is gonna take so much away
But there's a way that time can offer you a trade
It might be cabaret
It could be poetry
It might be trying to make a new happy family
It could be violin repair or chemistry
But if it's something that takes lots of time that's good
Cause time is gonna take so much away
But there's a way that time can offer you a trade
Because your looks are gonna leave you
And your city's gonna change too
And your shoes are gonna wear through
Yeah, time is gonna take so much away
But there's a way that you can offer time a trade
You gotta do something that you can get smarter at
You gotta do something you might just be a starter at
You better do something that you can get better at
Cause that's the thing that time will leave you with
And maybe that's why they call a trade a trade
Like when they say that you should go and learn a trade
The thing you do don't have to be to learn a trade
Just get something back from time for all it takes away
It could be many things
It could be anything
It could be expertise in Middle-Eastern travelling
Something to slowly sew to balance life's unravelling
You have no choice you have to pay times price
But you can use the price to buy you something nice
Something you can only buy with lots of time
So when you're old you'll blow some whippersnappers mind
It might be researching a book that takes you seven years
A book that helps to make the path we take to freedom clear
And when you're done you see it started with a good idea
One good idea could cost you thousands of your days
But it's just time that you'd be spending anyway
You have no choice, you have to pay times price
But you can use the price to buy you something nice
So I've decided recently
To try to trade more decently
If attention = time, then yes
Yep
Truth and will do
It’s interesting how the incentives change with v4v
💯 It’s not about simply generating “engagement” in whatever way you can. That’s what advertisers want, because more engagement puts more eyes on their products. Instead, it’s about creating or providing something of genuine value to others.
Lack of engagement just for the sake of it is great here
Great way to say it, I don't want someone to benefit just because I gave 5 seconds to read something. One must form an opinion first, then act on it.
💯🤝
I had never thought about it this way here on Nostr. I’ll start adopting it, beginning with yours, which I really liked.
🙌🫡
Could this be a limiting factor though? I'm thinking about content creators and their incentives on other platforms as things stand today. I guess we could also argue that we might not want to encourage a certain kind of content on Nostr anyway
I don’t think of it as a limiting factor but as a motivation to create better quality content and foster a community around it.
If it limits spam and useless time wasting content, I'm all for it.
Most content creators I can think of, that are worth my time, started with passion, and are able to continue with follower support, which is encouraged on Nostr.
😂 I'll be halfway through reading something good, or even pretty ok, sort of evaluating its zapability in the back of my mind... then I hit a point where I see some AI generated image or quasi-relevant meme and... well. Yeah. 😅
Even some really good writers pollute their content, thinking they're enhancing it.
GM corndalorian! The beauty of us is just that! You reward a post with the zaps. There is no algorithm that pushes on some post just for visual or something like that. The only negative thing I find about us is that it is very difficult to make followers. And obviously the fewer followers you have, the harder it is to get noticed! Long live decentralization 💜🏴☠️.

System such as X allow people to game the system or create things to make people angry. It creates negative feedback
Op-in systems create a positive feedback

"One man's trash is another man's treasure." It's also true that where YOU don't pay attention, someone else might, and your disdain won't negatively affect the outcome...😃
When zero-algorithm V4V ultimately comes into its own, with millions or even billions successfully able to search for and find content of interest, EVERY nostr poster with ANYTHING of authentic value in ANY field will be well rewarded in the most organic way.🙏🏻💖🫂💥💯😆
Right! It’s about finding what and who each of us values, and not having it shoved down our throats by some centrally designed algorithm.
Truth… I’m with you Cornz
