I am starting to find a new love for lists. I want to follow you all but not necessarily in the same feed.
If you all have ideas on new screens to help manage/add/remove people in lists, move lists around, merge, break them down, let me know. There is a lot we could do.
I have no need for the list or follow packs, maybe when my grandma joins, I'll start using the list, can you improve the marketplace instead? or add genders, or a country, city feeds? that would be great , thanks bye
Genders: I thought Amethyst already had the ability to add pronouns to your profile. Or were you talking about something else?
Country or City Feeds: Amethyst already has "Around Me." No one uses it.
Marketplace Improvements: That's generic. What specifically would you like to see improved about the marketplace?
pronouns are not genders, genders mean male, female, trans etc, Facebook added a blue and pink icon when someone added their gender. It was really useful. You could also search by gender. Almost no one uses pronouns but everyone uses gender.
you also can't search profiles and see a list of profiles by pronouns
around me is not country feeds, it's the same as "check in" into a location as Facebook, ya no one uses it because nobody wants anyone to know where they are exactly. It was useful in Facebook because we only added our friends to our profiles. Nostr doesn't have friend requests. It will be used by nostr is quite tiny still.
search marketplace listings by state & city, so you can see what items are for sale in our cities and go buy it in person, buying things from someone in a different city, state, country, is not good at the moment, because small business can't compete against Walmart, so their prices are way too expensive, that's not even including shipping,
I just thought of something. We could add these lists to the dropdown in the main feed screen, select a follow list, and view it as a feed.
Aren't lists there already? I am confused.

That's another thing. Amethyst now is very Account-based. I am slowing migrating it so that we can show all lists from all accounts instead. Then we might need to code something to migrate lists from account to account too.

Nope...never added multiple accounts on Gmail.
I guess I am a weirdo who opens a chrome tab if I want to check and alternate rarely used account. It's a similar thing on Nostr too -- I rarely open the second account. Probably it's only my preference

A feature like the one from nostrudel, when you go to someone npub and click "follow", you can also add them to one of your lists (or remove).

I'm very interested in this also, I added nip-51 to the list of nips you shared with me. They do make feeds much more manageable.
I have a question: are follows still stored in one event and struggling with per event size limits on relays? Is there a standard for sub lists so editing your follows doesn't require sending the full list back and forth?
Yes, it is still limited to lists that need to be re-uploaded all the time.
We are also implementing lists on Contact cards, so offer more options beyond lists but that takes it's time because it builds more redirecting layers in the client (having to load the full list from individual events is annoying for many devs)

I'd like to suggest different names for the standard lists:
- All Follows
- Profiles from Lists (and maybe exclude the main contact list from that one)
- Main Contacts
... or something like that to differeniate more clearly, and then adding a "Topics & Communities" list to blend all the stuff thats not from people lists. The option to hide individual standard lists would be nice, too.
The ability to select multiple lists at once would be nice. Just a bunch of on/off toggles for each list in the selector so I can manipulate & filter the feed how I'd like.

I was thinking more like just a filter tab. Treat the list names like tags I can turn on and off. You can select one, a combination of, or all lists.
But lists of lists might be useful too.

list is key since 2023 i found - ever follow more than 700 - make infinite lists max of 100 to 300 entires only
