Seems like Bitcoin (and especially lightning) is generally a threat to the App Store business model.
Play it out, if we are allowed to send sats freely. Apple won’t be able to enforce taking their cut for anything done via iOS unless they allow Apple Pay to use Bitcoin and Lightning.
So I’m not surprised they’re trying to squash it.

You should negotiate to find out if there is a limited amount that can be spent on a zap. Say limiting it to 1 sat for that button. For the IRS the unwritten rule is $600. For sales tax reporting purposes it might be a fraction of a cent. For Apple Music store the threshold is 99¢.
I mean this is already a tremendous victory that they are treating zaps as spending real money. So now you get to negotiate with a seat at the table. And on your side of the table you have lighting fees and on their side of the table is Goldman Sax losing billions subsidizing the Apple Credit Card.

Why not extend the profile pic visual on the top left of a note .. and put a LN symbol next to it, surrounded by an extended dark oval. That way, the LN symbol is associated with the profile pic.. i.e the profile.
Let’s remove it for now and we will figure out a solution later.
Not worth the fight at this time. Get rid of it and save for the fight in future. For example you could bring it back in another form OR non Apple platform OR maybe antitrust will discipline Apple in future and then you could bring it back. When time comes we will join antitrust against Apple too.
