I counted every mention so you don't have to.

It's amazing that 6 months ago the most popular client was astral.ninja and these days it doesn't even get a mention. You folks are brutal. Zero loyalty. I love it. πŸš€

Congrats to Primal, Snort and Coracle. Super cool to see the very new Satellite also scoring well.

Amethyst is by far my favorite client. Guess i didnt see the poll. Thank you brother.

It was just for web clients.

Amethyst for the web! Let's gooo

The best part is they don't have to choose one, they can use all of them together. This is exactly why I am building NostrNet.work

Not really. Every time I use more than three clients I lose subscriptions to chats and hashtags in Amethyst.

Don't follow or unfollow in other clients. They will delete the non-people from your contact list :(

Is this why my chats keep going away in Amethyst?

What's going away? The chat header in the list of chats or individual messages?

I can't find my chats in "all follows." I have to go to global then scroll to find it. Even when I click join. I feel like I keep clicking join and nothing happens

Oh, interesting. We might need to refine the expectations of that screen.

The chats you create, if they are not being used, the will move all the way down. The chats you follow always be on the DM page. The tab for all the other Chats is more of a "Discovery" tab that will include a bunch of other things that are happening at the moment. That's why it is together with communities and live streams. The order is by activity.

The filter up top then refines to the chats, live activities and communities created by your Follows, a list, or Global. If you Follow yourself, then your old chats should also appear (unless there are too many other chats in your follow list).

It's also because Monlovesmango kind of disappeared and abandoned Astral. It was way ahead of the pack back in the day.

I was surprised with the amount of functionality astral had when I looked at it way back then. It seemed like a clear leader

Someone should run a primal cache in US. then it will be even faster. Also more decentralized.

Yeah, I am not a fan of their caching stuff.

I think we can do just as good in the clients with proper local db support, no need to centralized around custom relays.

heavy caching in native clients is one thing, but what about web/pwa? less consistency and duration there means they’ll have to fall back to making a bajillion REQs over websocket(s).

it pains me to see the data tx most clients are doing. the general idea bundling data (similar to primals cache) at the protocol level is interesting.

You can do all of these same techniques in web/pwa

disclaimer: not a webdev and have not built a pwa, but heard this from a friend recently regarding ios. maybe someone here with more experience can debunk.

β€œIf your PWA or any website for that matter, goes unused for a few days (we think it is roughly 14 days, it is not documented) the device will remove all cached assets associated with the origin. This includes IndexedDB, service worker cache, localStorage, etc.”

Agree. I am preparing to have a heavy db in the app. I think I am going to do something crazy:

Plebstr is not a web client

No NIP-07, not linked from their home page, might as well not exist.

itβ€˜s still in beta.

Great to see Coracle rising up the list, its a great client and has only been getting better

also doesn't this count as mention? so these are all now +1 :D

Thank you Vitor.

Nostr is moving so quickly. Next 6 months are going to be lit! πŸš€

I've been leaning more towards #Snort lately. Everything else just feels a bit "extra" to me. Snort is pretty simple. Only thing that's a bit annoying is having to click the 'load more' button every time I scroll to the bottom of my feed.

I used to be annoyed that the global feature had you have to choose a relay instead of just showing notes from all of them, now I've come to love that aspect of it.

Astral was the first client I ever tried. But since it didn't run well on my phone I tried amethyst, snort, nostragram and iris. Been mostly amethyst ever since.

We love our users and it looks like the feeling is mutual! πŸ’œπŸ«ΆπŸ’œ

Super blessed that so many people are choosing Primal!

Yeah, it turns out that people who actually care about free speech tend to get the most support. They also tend to be better developers. Funny how that works, isn't it?

I am not sure if that is true. What makes you think that?

My first log in was with astral ninja ... those were the days.

Coracle is connecting to zero relays for me today, so trying and pleasantly surprised by Primal. Snort only connecting to 3-5 relays. Amethyst I love since it connects to 20+ but I'd rather be on web/desktop if I'm at my machine. For all I'd love more visibility into connection and publishing reliability. That's something I'd pay for.

I believe you can't have many parallel connections in a browser. So, they might be hitting a limit.

There are places for loyality; being a loyal fan of an artist you have followed for years, your closest friends, your wife.

But, this is "just" software. Things change, methods evolve, improvements occur and innovations are made. Shoutout to #astral - it was the very first client I tried, after #iris failed me big time.
