Someone burned tens of millions to make the loser look like the favorite. The only reason I didn't go all-in is that I'm trying to manage my greedy tendencies. It was a good day nevertheless. Started backing the underdog at 3 to 1.

Haha, I would never do something like that. I haven't voted in years but I had to repay an emotional debt from my very foolish years. I hope I'll never have to do that ever again.
It's just that the favorite claimed he's a sovereign Christian which I know for a fact that he isn't. Basically he announced that he was going to marry a woman and after a few weeks he married another pretending like nothing happened.
I'd much rather deal with a sincere thug than a lying bitch.

the fact is the known statistics of divorce rates for"Christian" marriages is only slightly better than non-Christian.
i believe that's due to many persons believing they are "Christian" when they are not
The Christians both know they can't do better because no reasonable adult wants to be married to someone who still believes their imaginary friend is real.
Happily never divorced #atheist checking in. Avoiding the religious nuts did make initial selection more difficult I will admit.

Some atheists don’t even get married but still stay faithful to each other. Marriage is a government/religious institution.

This is what I'm saying, I'm talking about the supersensible implications not about the state interference. Since everything in the physical has its correspondence on a higher level, the union of a man and woman is sacred too. Something mysterious happens to the bond between the man and the woman in marriage. And because it's a genuine secret, the wisdom of this sacrament cannot be told or made understood to any third-party outside said union regardless of brain power or willingness.
the religious part is important to me. not the state/government.
I personally think a marriage contract is a bad incentive but I can see why some people want it for religious reasons.
Marriage is a particularly bad deal for men. But yeah, for Christians, it’s mandatory if you want that kind of lifestyle. Since the Bible recommends men stay single, and because the whole “marriage and family” lifestyle always struck be as particularly unappealing anyway, I did exactly that.

Marriage is a 50/50 shot. And a good fraction of the ones that don’t end in divorce are pretty friggin’ miserable. The reward/risk ratio is unattractive.

There are some scenarios where I can see marriage benefiting a woman, but virtually no such scenarios for a man. The only time I’d recommend it is if the man wants kids. Kids stand a better chance with married parents. But for those of us who are blissfully childfree, it seems like a horrible arrangement with lots of cons and zero pros.
I think raising children without a marriage certificate is better for the kids because women are not incentivized to leave the marriage and take all the money. Unless they do a prenup beforehand, marriage is actually bad for kids imo.
