If you could choose to live longer, how long would you choose?
Discussion
If I say forever, can I die? Can I choose to?
Asking the real questions. :)
Yes, you can die from other stuff, but not from age.
Also, define "live". I don't want to live for 200y as a battery for some terminator :)
pls not more than 90
I need to know the quality of the longer life before I can truthfully answer
It would be a huge mess, trust me. w
When the world is constantly changing, and you can’t keep up with it, it’s terrible.
40
90+ doesn't look amazing but anything past 150 is just guesswork. I imagine being bedridden for 400+ years wouldn't be great. Will virtual reality make it more desirable? I'm not even 30 and the thought of living in a virtual world makes death sound more inviting.
But maybe zapping my friends for eternity is my purpose. How long must I engage in this war between sovereignty and state? Has nature willed that I must fight for eternity until I decide I've had enough?
What does eternal life demand of its customers? Drink 100 virtual Colas to gain 10 years of digital life? Sport the new branded gear and maintain corporate partnerships? Neural data mining?
Imagine waking up from cryogenics just to be offered a test drive of the alpha testing of virtualization of cryogenetic subjects.
Wonder if anyone accounted for that or if frozen people are just fucked due to contractual nature. Which begs the question of who decides when humanity is decidedly incapable of restoring a body. Do we let their brains decay or do we import them to a virtual space against their consent?
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Just spit balling :) good question.
So I've based my 500yrs on life being somewhat like it is today (that I'm able to enjoy life above 80% of the time) and that I have family and good friends around on the journey. Truth is if bitcoin wins out then we are looking at quality life all around and I wanna see how it evolves.
Big difference between 500 and forever.
I think at most I'd like to live long enough to see Andromeda merge with the Milky Way and all other galaxies recede beyond the cosmic horizon, but who knows, maybe I'd be just done with living well before then. But almost certainly more than 500 years.
Ask me again in 60 years 😅
Depends on overall health?
I'll take forever as long as I can still off myself if I ever get fed up with living.
A geological age.
There are trillions of galaxies out there in the universe. Each person on earth could have a galaxy all to themselves out there and still have a shit ton left over for all those souls who've passed away over the millenia.
I'd really like to live long enough to all that so forever seems like it'd be just long enough.
