yes, yes it is

what would make you consider giving up owning a car?

what do you like about owning one the most?

Drones I don't have to pay to charge to take me where ever tf I wanna go.

I like the illusion of freedom it gives me.

Wen free teleportation?

WEN

yes.

2140 when humans can teleport and bitcoin transcends time and space!

inshallah

i dont even own my own car. i share it 50% of the week.

Q1: costs. they can outprice me, easily.

Q2: do you have a moment?

sharing it is a nice way to do it tbh 💜

yeah, but there’s a cost of opportunity also, which you couldn’t even consider without a car

i’ll give you exactly 1 and a half moment

it's not by choice, it's just what it is rn.

if i could afford it i would have my own car.

ok, here we go:

flexibility.

mobility.

warm.

carrying heavy groceries on bike in the rain during windy storms is not my favorite thing to do. and the weather is very shitty here outside the summer.

also, duration...same destination: 1.5 hours with public transport (3h total) or 12 minute car ride (25min total), what would you prefer?

you can do so much more and be much more spontaneous in activities and visiting others with a car

also, hate public transport. having used public transport since i was young, some day you just get sick of it. sick of the busses and trains not arriving, missed connections, full cabins, cant even sit. people are annoying. weird routes and connections. most of the time not efficient at all.

unless you want to go to city Amsterdam and the like, the. public transport is worth it bc parking costs are insane.

also for work for example, think of catering.

cant fucking work if you cant do groceries/transport stuff whenever you need too 😂

too many job postings where it says as a requirement “owns a driving license”, and i’m just *oof*

why ooff

*nods in not owning one*

damn, never had that kind of problems with the public transport here 🤔

your country has a 93.3% lower population density then the Netherlands (28 people/km² vs 418 people/km²), might be that

damn, you may make me consider owning a car, even though i am used to riding a bike even during the -20C winter days here 😆

yeah, those spontaneous car trips past midnight hit different tbh, just cruising and listening to my favourite tracks

therapy fr

good memeries

literally me

This is something I miss about owning a vehicle. Late night drives listening to good music

Depends where you live and if you can afford it.

Usually the answer is yes.

I tried living without a car. Was very restricting even with all the available services.

A car gives you more freedom.

yeah, fair 💜

I’m actually in a market for a car now, I test drove a Tesla Model Y two days ago… and it bums me that I didn’t like it. I wanted to like it so bad. 😂

Will probably keep my RAV4 and add Comma AI OpenPilot to it.

what did you dislike about the Tesla? 🤔

curious about Comma AI, saw some videos about it long time ago

I’m sure some settings could be dialed in a bit, and there is a good chance most of these are things you get used to and fade away after a while, but mostly:

1) The car is very heavy and you feel it.

2) Side mirrors are small, and the blind spot camera is jarring.

3) There are a lot of things happening on the screen while driving it was distracting.

4) they told me I can’t turn off the re-gen breaking, I didn’t like that, and also I had another electric vehicle, and I came to the conclusion that letting the car coast a bit saves more battery than regen slowing down and needing to accelerate again.

I thought the supercharger network was free, not sure where I got that from, but to fill up the car you need about 40 minutes of slots where available immediately, and costs around $20 for 270miles. I don’t have a charger at home so I will be depending on this.

All in all, I enjoyed driving my RAV4 way more when I left the dealership.

I liked the chime it makes when a the traffic light turns green though. 😄

Depends on the city you are living in, if it has a good transportation system, and mostly on your needs.

Freedom to go wherever you want, so yes. If you don't want to go anywhere meh.

freedom is the biggest pro argument tbh

Freedom of movement in a cbdc world sounds terrible. Not sure if a car fixes this but as long as you get some gas for data, you're good.

For sats. Not for data. Goddamnit.

Yes

🧡 noted

I have no car 🤷🏽‍♀️

No one needs a car in Paris 😂💜 it’s a burden if you have car there 😂

True 🤣

that bad? 😂

Honestly it’s not needed the metro system is perfect ! And for weekends if you want to travel, you can rent a car. (+ parking is so expensive)

I hate driving a car in Paris

However, I have to admit that until now I have always had the opportunity to drive a car if I wanted to because most of the people around me have one.

So there was no reason for me to own a car

yeah, that’s nice tbh, really need to do my drivers license 😅💜

That would be a good start 😂

YES

If you have the money and the means, go for it.

It's like having wings in addition to feet and hands!

That liberating!

yeah, one day 💜

Yes, always

always? 🤔

I think so. At least you know you have the freedom to go anywhere whenever you want. At least that’s my thinking

yeah fair enough 💜

🫂🫂

Depends where you live. City? Maybe not. Rural? I could live without one.

If the freedom and opportunities it gives you access to outweigh the financial burden and risks then yes it is worth it

In the USA that’s a yes for most people except certain cities

tbh the urban planning in the US is heavily curated towards purchasing a car, it’s intentional

It is a huge country, out west there are places literally 500km from anyone or anything.

Exactly

Public infrastructure is great and we should improve it but in this land we need need personal vehicles regardless

Remote camping/mountains/national parks are some of my best experiences

Depends on where you live, but usually having your own car is worth it.

Depends wher you live fren

true 💜

Freedom of travel is a pro. The con is maintenance, insurance cost, and gas prices.

I like being able to travel whenever I like.

yeah, seems to be the main look on this 💜

don’t own one + don’t own a drivers license either. can’t afford it 🤷‍♂️

I didn't own a car for years. I walked to work or bicycle to work. It sucked when it rained, and it rains alot here. I managed to save alot of of the gas and insurance I would have spent. I invested that money and 80% of my tips from work. I worked 5 jobs and slept 5 hours a day.

Now, I have a 2021 toyota tundra. More money than I can shake a stick at. If you are willing to sacrifice and suffer for a period of time, you can change your whole life.

And I couldn't have done it without #bitcoin

wait what, you worked 5 jobs?!?

damn, that’s really inspiring to hear 💜

I bartender 4 places and did 15 yards a day. Up at 6am and went to bed at 1am or 2 am.

My body hated me but I'm glad I did it while I could.

damn, now i feel hella useless and like i’m wasting my time (which is good, thank you for that) 💜

I will sell you electric vehicles. You can even make one costum made. Accepting Bitcoin

damn, wish i had funds for one 💜

Economically and logically no for me.

But the option to just drive somewhere whenever I feel like makes it worth it even I if I could have just paid taxis to everywhere for probably lesser money

yeah, just the fact that you can is what makes it have a lot of worth

get a boat instead

next year i’ll visit ‘murica, and we’ll make that happen brother 🐸

Cost prohibitive in my case, I wish I could just get out of the city and out to nature more easily. Renting is too expensive for me atm. I may try one of those car sharing services eventually for when I just gotta get out

yeah, good assessment 🙏

Absolutely

Not

Yes as long as you bought it used(at least 4-5 years old).
