Private keys are too difficult for the human.
The average house user does not want to deal with the responsibility of looking after their house keys.
Gg, it’s been a good ride folks.

It’s a choice but the easy path always has less reward
that is why i think we need a key assistant app...where users work from. like a password manager and a menu with all the clients their password opens. we should be telling people to download one app: key assistant. then let them decide what app they want to open from that key assistant
More for businesses and self hosters when it's ready. But just a centralized key server with username/password which an administrator (or you) can manage, and it does all the key/signing stuff for ya

thanks sweetie, i will look at it!
One key holding Bitcoiner per family is the only way. Not everybody wants that responsibility.
One decent UTXO is the goal.
No, that is not the only way and you don't get to decide what the goal for everyone is.
Yes it is
That is literally not fucking true. They could each hold their own keys, one could, two could. There are a lot more than one single way for keys to be managed. And I think it's retarded to delegate key management for an entire family to a single person. At least a single key. A multisig setup would be better, but still far from the ONLY way.
Think a little. It won't kill you.
That's why NIP07 should be the default. Almost everyone can write down 12 words.
I just ordered one of these Cryptosteel Capsules to safely store my 12 words on metal. You set it up once, and it's there forever.
I used to think like this too.
But, you now know the problem.
Work on solving it.
Or bitch out!
key control is the "can you drive stick" of the new generation
ok but if I lose my house keys the house doesn't go poof
Neither does the Bitcoin.
It effectively does. Send me your keys and I'll show you what I mean.
Personal responsibility is no joke dude
Because the house is registered into a government database. If you do not pay taxes the house goes poof even if you have the keys.
that's right. my ownership of the house isn't about my house keys, but by the fact it's recognized by the central authority which has the monopoly on violence. not a good analogy with bitcoin keys
It’s the way. So we must work with them.
it’s just too hard to haul around a string of numbers and letters, or use a small usb device on a keychain.
we need government help us insert our personal key in our right hand, or hairline, to buy and sell things. so much easier.
Is Vaultwarden and Bitwarden, Keypass... et al really such a mystery to so many people so many years later?
Libertarians, tell me again how no one just needs to be told what to do.
"most people" like 1234 as their password and email as their username 😁
Yap….
What cryptographically secure alternatives do you see for private keys in freedom money, nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5?
what?! Makes no sense at all. Who doesn't want the responsibility of looking after their house keys... its not hard. And its not that big of a deal if you lose the house key, it doesnt mean that your house or something in it is gone. With true ownership of something and with freedom comes responsibility. Also, what kind of job would you do that has less responsibility than looking after your keys... you would achieve absolutly nothing in life.
I think when you compare it with a bank account most people are fine and comfortable that it's centrally controlled. A small set of people want to be in control of their money.
With banks doing more agressive kyc/aml monitoring and freezing accounts, I think more people will look for alternatives then to keep it in a bank.
The average house user is forced to look after their house keys, so yes, they do out of necessity.
people are ok with banks, because there is bailouts
imagine being no guarantees(nobody cand give your btc if custodial go bankrupt)
* sudently average people is forced out of necessity to self custody *
Frostr will fix this! 1.0 release coming soon!

Poor analogy. You can make new keys for your house. Or you can break in. Not so in Bitcoin. Unironically, your original thesis is correct, but most people will never manage their keys. Do not try to convince yourself otherwise.
My post was about bluesky user rationalizations on nostr.
Oh, I see. It’s the same but maybe less crucial than money. Then again, given WOT value and the fact that social media may be your primary business, it may be even more severe for some. The point stands: custodians will remain popular.
