Porn is part of the attack of high T Masculinity that is so rampant in our world at this time the last few decades.
Porn makes men sated and lose interest in persuing real women. Porn changes a man's perception of how hot of a girl he can catch to such a high level that he is dissatisfied with the "fine things laid upon his table" and he only wants the one's he can't get. Porn leads to MGTOW, to fewer marraiges, to fewer births. Now you decide for yourself is that better, worse, or neither?
The flip side is that when a man can satisfy himself, then abusive & manipulative women lose the power to control him with sex. It's entirely possible to maintain a realistic view of women even if porn is consumed, in the same way that it's possible to watch action movies & not let them distort your understanding of physics, or that you can play violent video games without ever having any desire to actually do anything violent. While there is a lot of unhealthy thinking in the MGTOW movement, I'm not sure it isn't a fairly natural reaction to modern feminism & the way modern culture uses masculinity as a punching bag & celebrates very weak & unimpressive people. Marriage requires a man & a woman, the number of extremely unfeminine women who don't want kids is dramatically higher too.
Good points. I think it is far easier to make the argument that porn has been bad for women because they have less the power to control men via their lust.
And maybe that is why so many women now seek power and control ('manipulative') and seem so unfeminine, rather than being what we think of as the traditional wife, because they lost the power and control (via a man's lust) that they naturally had since forever, but they are still seeking it because evolution drives them to.
Maybe that's a "win" for men, that we can't be so easily manipulated. But I think it's a further step towards an unnatural and unfulfilling life.
I think birth control seriously screws up natural attraction mechanisms & makes females hyper irrational. Sugar & soy & veg oils compound all of this & have a similar effect on men. But I think women have been the primary target of a conscious multi-decade campaign to get them drugged & propagandized into believing they should work & pay taxes & generally reject a more feminine way of life. Men in a world with good women are harder to manipulate, but once you destroy the women in a society then you can easily destroy the men.

The Overton window for porn has shifted over the years. I believe this is based on access.
Example: pre internet, access was video tape. Prior to video tape, access was magazines. Before the big brands Penthouse and Hustler, porn was very niche and on 8mm "stage films".
Along the way, access has desensitized men. This in my opinion has not made men better sexually.
The next argument is, what is "better"?
Instant gratification visually? I'd say no.
Healthy depiction of women? I'd say no.
Ability for romance or courtship? No.
In answer to the question... porn is and always has been available. It has always had an impact socially and it is in the way men choose to "use" this stimulus that is judged. Therefore I'd say neither. This shifts the onus and responsibilities to the users not the media.

IMO, neither. Are porn & masturbation addictive? Yes, potentially very much so. All sorts of plesant brain chemicals get produced. If you don't have anything good going on, it's very easy to sit around & jack off instead of being productive. But discipline is important in all things - food, exercise, entertainment, etc. Ignoring your sex drive won't make it go away forever. It's important to address all basic human needs in the healthiest way possible. Involving people you don't really care about is not particularly healthy. And a little self love once in a while doesn't hurt anyone.

Modern men need porn.
Let me explainā¦
Evolution formed men to spread their genes as much as they could. Men are deep programmed to have multiple sex partners.
Modern life introduced monogamy. Actually this is a pretty recent thing when compared to the whole history of mankind.
So in order to fit in this new environment where men still have the urge to have sex with different women AND where nude women are more present around them than ever before, men need to adapt.
So my theory is:
Porn is a way for men to not surpress their deep biological craving while at the same time beeing able to life the modern standard monogamy lifestyle.

Except I donāt think monogamy is a recent thing.
Strong and united family has always been a core condition to survival for mankind, so men have also been incentivized to have a single woman to preserve the family, itās not a new thing.
Or at least itās not a no brainer thing that men are deeply programmed to have multiple sex partners, because their are incentives in both ways. And Iām not even sure that porn suppress the need to see many women for men, on the contraryā¦

Porn destroys men...there's plenty of data to support how awful it is. You're getting large dopamine hits from staring at a monitor playing with yourself while other people have sex! Have you ever considered why it's so easily accessible for FREE in a world full of censors? Is it perhaps that it weakens men and weak men with lesser human/social contacts are easier to control?
My partner decided to quit porn, somewhat due to Marty Bent - "don't watch porn freaks". I didn't ask him to, but I'm really glad he made that decision.
Our sex life is better. Our relationship is better. He feels he is better for it. It also makes me feel really secure and appreciated in our relationship.
Also, the way women are portrayed in a lot of porn is messed up yo. Hard to not let it mess with your head as a woman or man.
