Here’s the thing.

Nobody cares.

You’re either useful to others or you’re not.

Doesn’t matter what you look like, what culture you’re from, what your background is, what happened to you, etc...

All noise.

Are you useful to me?

That’s all anyone is thinking about you.

You got to give us a heads up when you're going on a pod. That would be useful.

I never know when they’re coming out until they drop

Nice work on WBD with Pete. 🤙🤙

Thanks bro

100% on point

There's also unconditional love.

For women and children yes.

What about your friends?

Nope. Adult relationships demand reciprocity.

Ancient Greeks had different words for different kinds of love.

Unconditional love is for our children. We shouldn’t expect it from anywhere else, even if we didn’t get it from our parents.

Jesus would co-sign this

You could argue someone to love is the most useful thing a person could do. Love is sacrifice and work, so why do we do it? Because its far better for us to give then to receive and we know it and act on it! 🤯

Bitcoin Visionary Counselor for your services 👨‍🚀🚀

I feel the same way. Maybe that's why I try not to be one-dimensional. It's raises the likelihood that I'll be useful.

Careful, that is borderline Sapiens-esque thinking. It pre-supposes that all motives are driven my selfish behaviour. Which is fundamentally wrong and gives a false (albeit seemingly intuitive and WEF friendly) impression of human action. If this were true there would be no Bitcoin, no Open Source movement and no cypherpunks.

Not forget the nuance, the details and apparent outlier cases are important!!

Enjoy your work and get the impression you’re a deep thinker. Don’t fall for that oversimplification of human action trick.

Not really the point I’m making, but I would point out that Bitcoin works specifically because of human selfishness.

That's what she said.

You're right but there's a better way to think about it that also includes unconditional love and that's: "Is my life better with you in it? or it isn't"

But what if your looks, culture, life experiences and background contribute to your usefulness? 🤔

Then use it. Use whatever you’ve got.

Exactly. People claim they don't wanna be used, but they don't give their time or attention to anyone, without expecting to use them in some form.

"Actually, I think what truly matters is being kind, compassionate, and understanding towards others, regardless of their usefulness to you. Let's focus on being good human beings rather than just being useful to each other."

like it or not this is true 🤷

Wisdom, is understanding that useful to me is also useful to the world at large and vice versa

I find comfort in this note, which is useful to me, so thanks Hodl, I think I'll keep ya around.

The 8 forms of capital can offer some insight into how to spend ones time being useful vs aquiring more tangible forms of capital. Financial, material and natural are all forms of capital that one can "trade" for but intellectual, experiencial, social and cultural forms of capital are ones that can only be gained by action. More usefulness can be accomplished the more these less tangible forms of capital one has accrued. Spending time learning, experiencing, and participating can yield massive gains to the resilience of ones wealth. Time spent soley focused on building tangible forms of capital is often a brittle strategy.

99% agree. The others are my true friends. That takes time to find and it’s the most important thing.

Wrong.
