Cold-pressed olive oil is so tricky to pair with other food. It's so grassy that you can't put in salads without mixing with other stuff to mellow it out (which defeats the purpose). Even some breads don't go well with the oil. It's bizarre. It should work, but it doesn't.

What are you talking? Canola oil? You make 0 sense. Olive oil industry is very dodge so maybe you getting some mixed stuff even it says 100% olive oil?

Depends of the countries. In Europe you can find high quality olive oil in France, Spain, Italy and other Mediterranean countries. Maybe the best is to find a producer and get small batch, like some people do with honey or coffee

Weird thing i read lately, many "organic" olive oil contain more plastic particles and pfas than regular ones..

Also i saw at the supermarket some brands now test their oil for chemicals and other residues.

Ye I wouldn’t just trust what is written on the bottle. But choosing you do want the virgin oil

You can try it in soup or smoothies. I like it with any fish too.

Generally in hot soup it stays on top.

Few months ago i made smoothie with banana, apple, orange juice, peanut butter and olive oil. The fruits cover well the taste of the oil

Do you have *fresh* extra virgin olive oil? it should smell fresh, like cut grass.

Lookup production date, it should be more recent than 24 months. After opening, keep olive oil cool and dark (but not in fridge).

Olive oil+ vinegar + optionally some mustard, drops of lime juice, ground salt and black pepper: perfect for every salad. 🥗

Don’t buy olive oil from big brands (Bertoli), best buy Spanish olive oil, as Spain has most strict controlled production processes.

Try Lucini cold press. Its a whole different thing.

“Cold press Extra virgin” is a bit of marketing nonsense: Extra virgin is always /can only be cold pressed.

Then why is this brand so much fresher different than every other extra virgin olive oil, even the good ones?

The only right way is to buy olive oil, directly from your nearest local producer who makes it with passion.

Every industrialized oil is simply crap.

Agree.

In Europe, there are small boutique importers of quality olive oils, made by passionate producers in Italy, Greece, Spain.

Just an example (in Dutch) :

The Mediterraneans literally just dip bread in olive oil an eat it like that.

The quality of the bread is important though

Hard disagree but I am Mediterranean. You can put a very small amount of balsamic vinegar it drops to the bottom it’s also nice but even stronger taste. The trick is to have a good quality olive oil and good quality bread. For salads tradiditionalky we don’t do just olive oil it’s always olive oil and vinegar. The concept of ranch dressings is horrendous to me xD
