A bowl of the yogurt I made in a cooler with some strawberries, yellow kiwis, and blueberries! 🌈

Cooler yogurt verdict: not bad! But the other yogurt I cultured from Goshen Homestead Creamery’s yogurt is better (cooler yogurt was ultimately derived from a storebought yogurt).

Goshen makes the absolute best yogurt I’ve had in my life, but sadly, I can’t get it in my area… so I took a sample when it was being served at an event and grew my own πŸ’ͺ

It tastes almost as perfect and delicious as the original, and I only used an instant pot instead of fancy equipment, so I’m calling it a win.

Botany pop quiz: do you know which two of these fruits in my bowl are related?

That's definitely a success, even if it's not as good as the other stuff. Cool!

I’m very pleased 😁it was a desperate scramble to figure something out when I’d already poured the jar and it wouldn’t fit in the instant pot with the others. Glad I didn’t have to waste the effort and just stick it in the fridge as milk with a little yogurt in it.

Good save! 😁

yum! kiwis and blueberries are related

Bananas and strawberries are related, if I’m not mistaken - by the arrangement of their seeds inside.

That yogurt looks top notch!!

Thanks! I am proud of my yogurt experiment 😁

Weirdly, bananas are actually related to ginger and cardamom, while strawberries are far closer to apples but have their seeds on the outside.

Strawberry flowers and apple flowers look so similar you can kind of see it, and when you split a banana into three parts down the middle and see the triangularity of a cardamom pod, that makes a little sense, too.

This is what I like about Nostr. I can tell you didn’t just cut-and-paste some definition from a textbook, you explained that in understandable language. Well done. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks! You triggered the botany nerd is what happened πŸ˜‚

(Not β€œtriggered” in a bad way, just brushed the dust off the window into a soul that is obsessed with plants πŸ˜‚)

Whew when I saw you were triggered I was puttin’ on the five point harness and gettin’ ready for a lap coffee lawsuit

That looks great.

I’ve been making my own yogurt for a while now and I’ve been using this probiotic strain that’s made somewhere in Europe to culture the milk. I pour the boiled milk (after it’s lukewarm) with the culture in mason jars and wrap them in towels and leave it a warmer place to ferment overnight, makes some nice yogurt.

Btw didn’t know that kiwis came in yellow 😳

Is it Bulgarian yogurt? They’re famous for it

Just curious, why not make dahi with an Indian yogurt strain? Since you’ve sent me Indian recipes before I would imagine that would be useful and doable.

It’s a French brand called yogohurt and it’s a kefir probiotic strain

I love dahi 🀩

But I don’t know what type of strains there are in dahi so I just wanted to try this probiotics
