You can curate your own feed in centralized paltforms like X. So it's not "the definition" of freedom of speech.

Curating your feed is possible on #Nostr too? The only ones that show up on your feed are your follows. No algorithm like on X. You decide who you want to listen to, hence the freedom to listen to who you want to speak without that being filtered by someone else.

Is that along the lines you were thinking? Because YES. I do wonder often if we’re not all really just seeking the illusion of freedom meanwhile they’ve just found a new way to control us.

I see what you mean. Yes, there is a danger of that. I have personally tried to stay as open minded as I can, but I’m certainly not perfect on it. But if it’s something that causes pain or irritation constantly, i may have to make a choice.

The key is to follow up with thought about why it got under my skin - does it mean I’m wrong? Or weak? Or intolerant of other valid viewpoints?

Without introspection and being willing to challenge one’s self, I agree that you can certainly stunt your own growth by surrounding yourself with yes-men.

Nostrudel comes with temporary mutes. You can mute for an hour, a day, a week or a month. Something like that.
