Something must be done about the shitcoin scam reply bots and that is NOT telling everybody to block them.

Send deletion event with vote system to relays.

If X votes has been sent to a relay, the relay delete all events from the specified pubkey (scammer) + ban all futures events from this pubkey.

Not perfect. It requires a specific action for each account.

Or a centralized list of scammer pubkeys. Not perfect because it's centralized.

#nostr was created to prevent this specific thing.

This is waaaay too gameable. Would be easy to ban anyone the herd wanted.

Imagine bots are created on mass and all will vote you down and your events get deleted on every relay?

Not a good idea.

I wouldn't even know how to block them... 😔

If your on damas, there should be three small dots in a row on every note. You will see a set on my note. Click that and it will give you a menu. “Mute” is on option.

I'm on Amethyst.

PoW on replies

Client level opt out block lists.

🤔 Like the adblockers use?

Pretty much or Twitter but with some terms already added that the user could remove if they wanted

That's the most reasonable option, i think.

Zap to reply, or a history of having zapped a user to reply? Perhaps the requirement for a linked wallet which could be checked for a sat balance before one can reply, and users could turn this on or off in their accounts. Just throwing some ideas around, maybe there is something in there.

Opt in block lists? Some could be community managed, others could be managed by clients, or other service providers.

That sounds reasonable to me.

Relay side forced censorship is not reasonable.

Absolutely.

I thought this was part of the benefits by using paid relays. Are you getting spam on paid only?

High cost of entry at scale makes blocking meaningful.

On a free relay, you simply cannot block faster than the bots can spin up a new account.

Relays can ban the word Airdrop. Nobody is airdropping Bitcoin 😂

100%

But there are plattforms that reward you with satoshis via Lightning for playing!

Just see our habla here: https://habla.news/a/naddr1qqxnzd3exyurgvf3xsurxv3jqgsfpr28k6zr6ymqsrr3k6d9fe76gjufa7q6cjfrmkr4jqna52ln3tgrqsqqqa28m97f5n

Start playing Solitaire to get rewards via Lightning!

Its that easy!

Thank me later!

True, but they still don’t use the word ‘airdrop’.

Why do you use the word cryptocurrency?

Because there is bitcoin and there are fiat-cryptocurrencies.

I left a joke reply about a 'Bitcoin Airdrop' and got immediately blocked and reported by someone. Careful with that word 😅

😄

Airdrop is a cuss word on nostr 🫢

You both used it now😬.

😧😶‍🌫️🫥

Become a censor block are drope worlds

Vould the relays auto-correct their stock messages to something based or at least funny and self-deprecating?

A NIP to impose rate limits at the relay level for npubs posting the same message repeatedly. This should do away with most of it.

What about one-use npubs that post the same message

Like Marcia and tim?

They wouldn’t count because they’re not sending a thousand events per second.

Fair enough 😆 🤣

Still less spam than other platforms, its all about perspective.

relays could check the history of the replier (and maybe reputation)

Comeon man, I'm just trying to get my free shitcoins. /s

Agree to a certain extent but spam bots and AI bots will always get one step ahead of us plebs.

Providing the user doesn’t see them, who cares if the majority of comments are spam.

It’s a bit like a spam email inbox where majority goes to junk. The user doesn’t care about the junk inbox, they only care about the inbox. Providing the inbox is majority clean, the spam box could be a gazillion and the user wouldn’t care.

It’s more about the memory storage or relays handling the spam which for me is the question…

Keywords / Hashtags filtering. Preferably client side.

I think we should fight back

ture, dude.

Micro payment groups.

PoW, proof of burn, or payment for relay access and PoW to reply. Solving by heuristics at a relay level is difficult.

Mutes are just a list - why not tell clients to implement the ability to pull mutes fro additional lists that a user may pick, allowing a community approach to filtering on one side?

On the other... I guess good implementations or methods to filter incomming posts; mainly thinking of strfry's WritePolicy stuff.

Stats on what relays have the most and least of them could be useful to help pick relays.

Proof of work must be done.
