There's no one stopping other investors from betting on what they think is a better horse.
That is beside the point that grants lead to economic lethargy, when they're too generous or long-term. Humans need a sense of urgency, to stay focused and recognize opportunity.
with most nostr grants i think the problem is they aren't targeted at a purpose just "do whatever" even though they say that at the beginning, not one grantee seems to stay on one task and get it done properly
Because they don't want to micromanage them. Grant-givers aren't bosses and NGOs aren't businesses; they're charities.
Businesses need to be run for-profit, so that the market is the boss.
the other bizarre thing about the grants is that they all pretty much seem to be for clients, and nothing is about getting a concept for a business off the ground

I think nostr.build also had a grant and managed to actually launch from there.
And Damus. Say what you will, but Will actually seems to want to make legit money.
