Idk about merkle trees or if fiatjaf is trolling, but some of us are very interested in the protocol being p2p and JavaScript-free. I'm interested in trying it 🤙
I do all my dev in Python and am exploring #hypermedia to get away from JavaScript on the browser client. That said, the #nostr protocol is free from JavaScript, though it uses JSON, which is just a dict in Python-speak. I see little attraction to mainline DHT beyond what can be done with a relay. Also P2P implies that you need to have a host online all the time. I don’t think that is a good design choice.

He has an npub! Thank you for showing me. This makes me even more curious why rostra isn't just a branch of nostr, at least using nostr keypairs as the keypairs 🤔

I agree with some of his criticism but a global feed with good data integrity is a real goal. Nostr seems closer to it than rostra, or the "secure scuttlebutt" thing that comparison page also mentions. I've been trying the scuttlebutt one today but not really found anything yet
I dont get it...if your application needs a DAG, you just link list your events, why would that need to be on the base protocol?
