Plebstr is a very good client. I just wished it removed the excessive Bitcoin mentions from its marketing material, and logo.

And also changed its name to something less ridiculous.

And open-sourced its code.

#[2] isn’t open source?

what are they doing behind all of that goodness?

I'm not sure but @Plebstr is hands down my favorite #Nostr client!

Thanks! 🙏

Why open the code when they have a great product? Doesn't make sense. How they will make profit from their product if they open it?

I can’t even inspect the traffic, at least on iOS.

Sure you can!

Settings -> Privacy & Security -> App Privacy Report -> Plebstr

Thanks, but that doesn’t provide the ability to inspect the traffic!

I think we can help crowdsource a better name and logo, with their permission of course, respectfully also lol 🥰

#[2]

But we are simple plebs who need a plebable client

Yeah, agree. I like the discretion of 'damus' 'amethyst', 'primal', 'snort' etc. In name and presentation.

But I think I think I prefer it ideologically to amethyst as the android choice.

Why ideologically?

(from what I understand, and my understanding is limited and somewhat confused lol) amethyst doesn't seem keen on getting rid of their 'adopted blocklists' (or whatever you want to call it). To me that seems a deliberate choice / vision of a social media, perhaps more sanitised and linkedin-ish or something, than what I would personally like to use and potentially recommend to people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

But bear in mind I'm a casual here and a silly goosey;)

It's a shame tho, cos it's slick af lol, songats off to amethyst for that tho obviously:)

Sim eu tbn acho. Para o celular Android #Amethyst para o tablet Android eu gosto mais do #Plesbtr . Versão Web eu gosto do #Iris

#Snort eu achei bem básico, mas o design é bonito.

What do you like about Plebstr?

It works very well, consumes little bandwidth, it's pretty and smooth.

I have a cheap Android phone. It only gets a little hot when using Plebstr. With Amethyst it burns my hand. With Nozzle it doesn't even get hot, but Nozzle is missing way too many features.

wait have you used damus?

Yes, I use it everyday on my cheap Android.

For me it's not so smooth compared to Amethyst, often freezes, even if it has less features (read/write relay conf, zap notifications, lists, notes details, etc). I haven't checked the battery and bandwidth usage, but I don't have a flagship phone either.

However it is really polished and have a sensible and curated UI.

I agree, I cannot understand a "B"(itcoin) marked logo at all.

No meu roda de boa, tanto o #Amethyst quanto o #Plesbtr

compatible with iOS 12 ...or later

It still misses the wallet connect service found in Amethyst

How come? Plebstr is a great name

Tbn acho

Plot twist: Plebstr is open-source and written in ClojureDart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqBeGpuedf0&t=559s #[0]

👀

🤷‍♂️ They are a for-profit.

It is a cool client. Serious lag issues on the summary screen though.

Hey Fiatjaf!

Thank you for the feedback - we are thinking about all of this a lot these days.

We started with our previous app Tweetoshi that was focused on Bitcoin & LN and when we pivoted to Plebstr we firstly thought about it as “Tweetoshi on steroids for Nostr”. It still seems to us like a great option but we also feel that we have to be a little more “generic” in order to get the masses on Nostr.

We want to be a pro-profit company and we are looking for investors so we can continue building Plebstr full time with our 5-member team. That is a big part of why we are not open source now - but if we get a “right” investor we are definitely open to it. We also plan to build an open source Nostr “signer” for safer and easier key management on mobile

It’s amazing to get feedback and we would love to get it more from all of you but especially you and people like #[2] who really know the social media space.

I agree. Plebstr is my primary client on iPhone.

If you build a great product you can still profit. Open source is the new bar imo for anything involving key pairs. Look forward to trying out your app when it is open source, imagine the zaps you’ll get! I suspect this voluntary type of zap splitting with good projects will be a success: nostr:note1v4gyqs3czkfe4z52z006a0wzpca865ue9gt9jzkzqxt5wld7npgqh76np4

I agree 100%
