I need your help!🆘

Need a function in the nostr client or somebody who would like to develop experimental tools for me. Which can be used for the public.

I want to write a note/post where I can easily import all of my followers into the post/note. Yes, mass mailing! This is not spam since I write only my followers. This is crucial for being a adult model here on nostr. OnlyFans, Fanlsy, etc all provide this function, without it it would be impossible to manage all the fans.

It took me over 20 minutes to make this list of nostr developer. This is easy to develop I think. This code can be written and will be written by someone. Somebody please make history and write this code for me? :)

Please help bringing new use cases to nostr! Everbody will benefit from it.

I dont like what you do, but i support that you are trying to build on #Nostr and migrate your following here which is good for adoption, so much potential here im surprised more arent flocking over yet.

Surprisingly I've been trying to bring people to work here on nostr from a "conservative" background and they do not even listen let alone do what you are trying to do thats improve #Nostr. This sounds a bit spammy to me. It would be the ultimate hellthread for all of your followers, especially as your follower count grows. Every reply would be a notification for all. Hmm. This almost sounds like a new NIP would be needed for "mass mailing", where it's a type of event that users would not be able to reply or respond to. Maybe only Zap and React?

A "subscribe" feature to such posts sounds like the solution to me, for those that wish to receive such mass communications. Would need to think on this a bit.

You are exactly right. We need NIPs for this. That last thing I want is to spam on purpose.

If every reply is a notificación for all I will have soon no followers. Lol

In twitter user can be groupt into groups. Individual groups can then receive an a mass email directly in their DM. This is not spam. Its like a newsletter.

I would be more than happy to have something like that on DM on nostr. Give me something that saves my time and you will save time for millions who are joining nostr later. It does need to be perfect.

Please also note that sooner or later this issues have to be addressed. Right now we are a loving #nosterfamily who do not want to harm eachother. Others, not so nice plebs will join noster and will run spam attacks etc for sure.

I think there’s no need to mention every pubkey. just adding a tag that makes the note notify your followers should be enough. That way your followers are still in control.

From today's discussion I see that there is no solution to this problem yet and it has to he addressed in the future anyways. Will I wait? No way? Will I spam? No way.

Solution 1

Quick solution! I will ask explicit approval from followers to mention them in my posts. Will create a openoffce calc sheet for that.

So, just to be clear, what you want is an ability for you to notify your fan base of specific notes that you post. Also, you don’t want them to be notified if anyone replies to the note, likes or zaps it. Am I correct?

Did you think of mass-DM solution? Perhaps having a note linked in the DM.

As an idea, we could group your fans under badges. You could add them to the badge based on their preferences (or whatever other criteria you may have) and use badge to collect npubs for DMing. I’ll think more about it, and how we can implement it without new nips. Maybe use lists, there is nip for that too. 🐶🐾🫡

It's much more tricky than that.

We can at least divide the problem into 2 layers,

The 1st layer is social behavior:

You can't assume every follower uses the same client.

Some client doesn't have notification at all.

Some only has a small UI hint, but no global OS level notification.

Some only notifies if you open the app, not in the background.

And some users never check DMs or use a client that doesn't have a DM, such as Rabbit.

The key need for nostr:nprofile1qqs9fvk57tm98y3lgzpcn44y62d29tt7zpz5nn3ag54ahe9xwxnqzcqayqv2q is not to massive DM followers, but to notify followers through any means.

DM is just one way.

The 2nd layer is the technical layer:

The

current follower/following NIP is flawed, not stable and consistent.

Therefore, using it as a base can only create an unstable feature. It's

probably acceptable to have it work 90% of the time for the first few

weeks. But unbearable for long term.

Therefore,

as much as I would love to have more users to use DMs and Blowater in

particular. We have to assume that most users just never see DMs and

start there.

It's easy for me to implement a massive DM feature in Blowater, but this DM may never be seen by nostr:nprofile1qqs9fvk57tm98y3lgzpcn44y62d29tt7zpz5nn3ag54ahe9xwxnqzcqayqv2q 's followers because most of her followers don't use Blowater and most other clients' DM are just bad.

But I'm happy to accept this challenge anyway because it aligns with my long term product vision anyway. Now it's just more prioritized.

You are right, the most important goal is to notify followers that there is something new from me. DM, bell 🔔 notification, etc

I personally used 3 nostr clients at the same time. Depending on the task.

Dont know the technical terms sorry.

For sure there is a clever solution out there which you guys will discover.

We could start developing a prototype on github and then forking and adding functions.

The current NIP of following/follower has a design flaw, so the first version of this massive DM may not deliver to 100% of your followers. Expect something like a 90%.

I have a plan to implement and propose a more stable and consistent following/follower NIP for a long time.

Maybe this feature request can be a more convincing use case for it as well.

That's what you're looking for! Are you a developer? You don't need us!!! 🙂

Another thing, you won't be able to send mails to nostr people, it doesn't make sense. I would opt for DM or a long form note with your followers quoted at the end.

About followers, as you have already discussed, this data will never be 100% reliable, so these communications will not always reach all the people.

Finally, someone has proposed a mechanism to be able to subscribe to a pubkey and be notified when this pubkey publishes something, this is the right way for me, giving the freedom to each person to receive the information they want.

I see two possibilities, develop the tool or propose a NIP for notifications, both are attractive and can be done in parallel.

After thinking about the massDM mailer I came to the conclusion that a simple ALERT ⚠️ 🔔 will be just perfect for all of us.

This will give noster the push it needs to reach better communication harmony between users.

No We’re adding push notifications to nostr:npub1pu3vqm4vzqpxsnhuc684dp2qaq6z69sf65yte4p39spcucv5lzmqswtfch for replies to your threads and DM’s. I think if users could see a zap price for seeing a notification there might be something interesting there. I don’t want to see one for a 1 satoshi zap but maybe 500?

Would that help you get ahold of your audience nostr:npub12jedfuhk2wfr7syr38t2f55652khuyz9f88r63ftm0j2vudxq9sqq7677r ? You want your followers to know there is new content. Just at mentioning them isn’t great. A DM could work, but also isn’t right. But if I could zap a person as a reply to my post in the hopes they see it? Could be abused but also might be a good idea. Especially if users had control and could choose the amount.
