It has nothing to do with “crypto” . Its a protocol for interoperable applications. Social networking is just one use case.

When people say “crypto” they typically refer to the many scam coins that rode the hype of bitcoin. Bitcoin is not crypto. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency for sure, it is the only legitimate and decentralized one that was not built to scam people. it is not in the same category as “crypto”.
