I was thinking that you could add a "Contacts" list and list-editor to Hivetalk, as the minimum viable method. For impromptu video calls and audio calls. Like predefined rooms. Could even group the contacts, like Teams or WhatsApp.

Put up a zap goal and see who's willing to pony up, for that. Call it "Fone a fren". 😅

..... the feature you're asking for - its already available on https://honey.hivetalk.org (the beta) - not vanilla which is what the top level defaults to 😅

you can create lists from your follows and restrict rooms access to only npubs in a list. There is an active geyser fund here: https://geyser.fund/project/hivehoney
