Blocking isn’t possible on Nostr. There’s always gonna be clients that won’t support blocking and the trolls will just use those clients to see all the notes.

Yep, agreed. Although what I really want is the ability to properly block, that is blacklist people so they cannot be served my content. I understand though how the decentralized nature of the protocol makes it basically impossible though.

I don’t think so unless you trust everyone on the private relay to never broadcast your notes to public relays

You can create a private group chat on nostr:npub1tm99pgz2lth724jeld6gzz6zv48zy6xp4n9xu5uqrwvx9km54qaqkkxn72 and all notes in the chat get encrypted, but I don’t think many clients support this.
You can't do it at the user level, but yeah private, no broadcast relays would be the way to do it. Lots of reason to do so, but i guess not a developer priority at the moment.

They don’t need to do that for mutes. When you mute someone, they still see all of your notes. It’s you that doesn’t see the notes of the person you muted.

So even if you could block certain npubs from seeing your content, they'd just create another npub to see them anyway.
In Amethyst you can filter replies/alerts by only the people that you follow. You can still see their replies in your thread but you don't get alerted to them.
