Thanks to a slow moving, lagging Umbrel and a non starting Start 9, I am forced to roll my own node.

I'm using a Linux Mint laptop running Bitcoin core flawlessly.

Thanks to nostr:npub1yx6pjypd4r7qh2gysjhvjd9l2km6hnm4amdnjyjw3467fy05rf0qfp7kza

and his Nodeyez software for making the blockchain, ( and more), information accessible via webpage.

As mentioned before, it's a work in progress, but I am learning so much as I plug along.

Umbrels quick start was a no go. Fast install, but laggy beyond what I could use.

What happened with Start9?

Straight up didn't install over WiFi. Used a lan cable. It worked, but! I couldn't get it to receive wifi.

Gotcha. I like to keep my node plugged in so I didn’t mind that I couldn’t get the wifi working either. πŸ˜…

No problem. I'd rather a wired set up. But my internet service provider didn't account that I would need one for a node.

You could get a small network switch. Comes in handy for those extra devices πŸ˜‰

First I hear of a network switch?

How and where does it fit in my current cable salad?

ISP internet -> ISP provided router/wifi -> switch -> devices

If youre paying to rent some device (router/modem) from the provider, it's generally worth buying one as they pay for themselves quick

Awesome. Will look into a better router.

fwiw this is because your hardware probably needed a proprietary WiFi driver that was not included in the StartOS binary. With 0343 (later this week), we are including a bunch more non-free WiFi drivers into the non-free ISO, so it will probably work just fine
