Organized religions are a major threat to bitcoin.

There's a perfect storm coming, with interests of failing nation states aligning with big religion. The existence of both depends on the individuals domination.

consuming agency, infantilizing the population into submission.

Both want two control the flow of information, it's no coincidence the growth in online censorship bills is being pushed at the same time religion is gaining popularity.

We are being encircled. Bitcoin is the ultimate defense for freedom of speech, because of this it is the ultimate target.

There maybe very few agents of these collectivist forces that understand, but the emergent behavior of the State/Religion, is taking this deadly serious.

It should be. This is the first time in human history true money exists which means this is the first time freedom of speech exists.

Literally the battle between good and evil, agency maximizing vs agency consuming.

The full fledged "in then they fight you stage"is here! Under the guise of "then they join you".

Religions will often fight from their righteous, moral high ground. A position most are unaccustomed and uneasy to dealing with.

The cage is being built and most "bitcorners" are helping!

....................................................

What do you think, can big brand religion exist alongside of freedom of speech?

Do you agree with the ending conclusion of "The sovereign individual"?

I do not.

Is Bitcoin itself a religion that is being threatened by other ideology? Bitcoin has the genesis, the mythos, and the Holy Spirit, so I get that as an argument, but it being threatened by Christianity or Islam religion seems silly and perhaps paranoid. Good thought experiment though.

No Bitcoin is not a religion. It's influence is through incentives only, not through any spiritual or moral guidance.

Your lives are very shallow for you to be even having these thoughts.

I’m not suggesting that I believe this to be the case, but there are plenty of people who do

Idiotic take. Abrahamic religions are more aligned with Bitcoin than any other money and I would wager the Asians feel a similar way.

I didn't continue reading too long.

Much of the trouble comes from religions supplying a framework of control for the politically inclined to take advantage. There are countless religious leaders that are interchangeable with the dirtiest politician.

It is just another collectivist weapon, but an insidious one that can not be questioned similar to democracy today.

I would argue we do not need a moral instruction manual, morality appears because it is the most stable productive state but it is important that each person learn this first hand, hopefully as a child.

I think perhaps you guys are talking about two different things? Abrahamic principles v Abrahamic Institutions.

Abrahamic institutions are amongst the biggest beneficiaries of the fiat system, because they take advantages to levels that no other organisation gets. It’s not even a hidden or controversial thing that Abrahamic institutions

- rely on tax breaks and exemptions

- rely on taxpayer funding via the state

- rely on inflation

- very strong political alliances

- very strong hierarchy and emphasis on obedience to authority

- highly centralised leadership

- partner with banks on fractional reserve principles

- rely and benefit on systems of debt creation

- amongst the largest asset holders on the planet because they seek to benefit from inflation

- prioritise institutional growth over economic reform

- maintain strict control of their financial opacity

BUT the religious texts themselves encourage some very btc aligned values

- truth

- integrity

- accountability

- confronting injustice

- distributed community responsibility

- critiques of hoarding and exploitation of the vulnerable

- transparency

- warnings against concentration of power

- condemnation of exploitative lending or prohibition of interest based systems

- emphasis on fairness and condemnation of debasement

So I think maybe you’re both right. And I’d add that hopefully, something like btc can make an institution actually start employing the values that it teaches.
