I just realized something I’m kinda sad about with #nostr.

There’s this whole division of the population on social who literally seem incapable of conversation. Their entire tirade of posts is either an absurd twisting of some half of a sentence you made and then an “I can’t believe you think [make up shit here].” And even worse is they chase you around like mosquitoes. The true definition of time wasters, both for you and themselves (which is just kinda sad to be honest).

But my favorite tool against them wasn’t to mute or block them, it was to block and then unblock immediately. It would force an “unfollow” on their side without any fanfare. It was a quiet “go the fuck away.”

Sad to see it go 😂

I guess I will have to be more liberal with the mute button as the “incoherents” join the party on Nostr.

lol are you fucking kidding me? I am not obligated to listen to people bullshit or have to filter through all of that. If you don’t mute people then you must have 2 notifications a day. Not trying to mean offense there either, but you obviously don’t know how impossible it is to operate without it if you get a ton of shit.

An analogy, go turn off all the default spam filters, any custom filters you have, any of the Google based protection filters, then post your email address in all the public places you can find… see how much fun that is 😂

If you don't follow them to start with then you don't have to mute them. It's not like nostr if pushing content on you via an algorithm to decide what you do or do not want to see.

Furthermore, this is just noise. Nobody cares who you follow or don't follow. It's your nostr account to do with as you deem fit.

My point wasn’t about content being pushed on me or caring about who does or doesn’t follow who. It was about dealing with annoying people who constantly reply nonsense under my posts. So not following them doesn’t prevent me from seeing their engagements with my posts.

I agree though, the beauty of Nostr is simply that I’m the one that decides what gets in front of me. Thankfully I have a mute button to help with that. I intend to use it more often 😆

I am a fan of mute. It keeps the folks that I have absolutely no interest in away from my vibe. I am only interested in seeing notes from folks I follow, and I never have the notes with replies turned on.

heads up that if you try the mute liberally technique it can be hard to unmute people. i don't think clients like damus even provide a way to unmute people. i muted over a hundred people on nostr and then had a hard time when trying to unmute all of them when i wanted to start fresh. somehow i had multiple mute lists and even when i tried to delete them, some clients still continued muting them. haha #wabisabi

I go the other way, I have a list of only 12 specific people and I use that as my "home" on Amethyst. The trick is to pick people that bring in interesting content from disjoint categories.

it has to do with basic 'education'. while schools are propaganda institutions brainwashing children with rockefeller propaganda, some education is necessary in order to funcion in a hostile environment. mathematics is one basic skill. languages are another. math teaches logic and languages open the mind by learning different CULTures. real universities which do not exist in america, teach debate. presenting an argument and listening to a counter argument. then trying to debunk the counter argument using logic, facts and evidence. whoever builds a stronger case wins.

uneducated people are not able to debate. if they do not like what they hear, they start attacking the presenter personally using insults and derogatory words.

there is hardly anyone who is able to debate on all of those websites. as a consequence they are easily manipulated by any current thing.
