Home made cookies are always good(just a few, not a ton). You can also decorate them with messages or with things you know he likes. Personalizing it let's him know you were thinking of him specifically when you made them.
A T-shirt with something he likes on it, or a mug. For most guys, utility is more important than how it looks, but if it matches him and does a job, its even more appreciated.
The reason guys generally don't appreciate flowers is because they don't do anything productive...
