What is this in Nostrudel? I already have relays configured. I don't want Nostrudel doing anything to them but it won't let me past this page without clicking an option.

I had this problem too and bailed
Yea I bailed too lol. Ended up using a different client instead 😅
Click top one.
All your relays will still be there.
I noticed this the other day, it could use some details. When I chose recommended relays i noticed it wasn't logged in. So it's a non-logged in selection for relays. Once you login you'll have your relays.
nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr also found this confusing
Added the option to use your existing NIP-65 relay set if you don't want to select relays.

The reason the app prompts you to select relays though is I'm trying to get away from using the users NIP-65 relay set (Inbox/Outbox) relays for the general app configuration. Its not what the nip was designed for and its lead to users having 20+ relays in their Inbox / Outbox which makes it really difficult to find their notes.
Also relay sets are much better solution then using the NIP-65 relay list as the apps default relays
Thank you for the option. I've already selected my relays in other clients and I don't need yours trying to change them. I like nostrudel but that doesn't seem like the right approach.
He’s asking for app specific relays that only nostrudel will use. Shouldn’t impact any other apps.
It impacts the user experience though. There are some relays I don't want to interact with. Maybe I want to interact only with my own relay. This is kind of pushy.
💯
Can’t you just limit your selection to just your own relay? Or are you more critiquing the outbox model?
I'm sorry. I think the other users complaining and myself didn't wait enough.
If you wait enough, an option to "use your existing relays" appears!
I never saw this before.
Maybe the other options should wait until there's a definitive answer whether there are or there aren't existing preferred relays. 👌
As for the transparency issue (normal people are not interested in knowing what relays are), later down the road maybe this relay selection stuff could be moved to after the login stage somehow, like notifications from the app or something.
Also I noticed that this selection dialog appears twice, before and after login, at least when using nsec.
Also strike where I said "after the login stage", I meant "after app use", like 5 minutes after login, for example.
I agree with most of what you’re saying. I do, however, think that the role is relays for the average user is still an open question. It may end up the case that they become a basic user interface element.
Thank you for this explanation!
Relays should be a transparent thing for new users. They shouldn't need to know they exist. This approach is kind of too cold, I think.
It's scary and unintuitive to most users.
Yes, please. NIP 65 should be really tiny.
