Is there a safer way to log into Nostur than pasting Nsec? I downloaded it a while ago but haven’t seen any extension or bunker login which was a turnoff for me

Just create a new account if you’re that scared. Does Damus let you do that? Or is that really just a way to lock you into an inferior client subscribing to an abandoned application!

Creating a new account and Olas and Nostur would defeat the point of Nostr so I don’t see myself doing that.

Will is only one man and I personally don’t mind see him spending time developing notedeck at the moment. Damus purple subscribers actually do get early access to notdeck.

Not displaying posts on nostr made by other clients also defeats the purpose of nostr, so just paste your nsec and move!

I already use Amethyst so I’m not missing out on those kinds of notes.

I’ll use Nostur when they implement a safer way to log in. Olas extension login doesn’t work either on my end. Trust me I want nothing but to post big beautiful photographs lol

Nostur and Olas should both support bunker logins.

nsec.app is the only bunker signer app that works on iOS but I’m building a native iOS signer currently.

I still appreciate Damus for its clean design, but Nostur and YakiHonne have pulled way ahead in terms of features. Haven’t used Damus much in the past month…

Sure it’s fast and scrolls quickly and isn’t cluttered, but it’s literally not even showing me posts from the people I follow because it doesn’t support their kinds??

At one point Damus was innovating kinds and forcing their adoption, and now it’s just ignoring them?!? Whacksauce.

There is no expectation that every app will support every kind.

My next iteration on ios is going to make it even faster (as fast as notedeck). Performance and reliability is always the priority for us. Thats why people use it despite a smaller feature set compared to other apps.

I will probably add olas images eventually though because i always wanted damus to have more media content on profile pages.

Our main focus is getting android out so people have this fast experience on all platforms. Then i will get back to ios.

Daniel is actively working on iOS. we didn’t *just* add stars, that was a small hotfix for our anniversary. We also have drafts in testflight and fixes that make notes open more reliably from notifications and links, plus qrcode scanner fixes since that was broken.

Daniel is working on tasks that are making the app feel buggy or unreliable. No point in adding more and more features if there are outstanding bugs and crashes.

He is only part time and we don’t get *that many* contributors to iOS, i don’t know what to say. We are not a well funded team. It’s just me and someone i pay out of my pocket at a loss. We are trying our best.

This is 100% facts. While other clients have more features Damus is very stable and zapping works flawlessly. I tap the bolt and BOOM zapped. Once Damus has content discovery I think it will be a very powerful nostr client

You do realize Nostur can zap just fine by adding a lightning bolt as a reaction? Damus isn’t exactly flawless in this regard, as you have to run the script to enable it…

Yano, I have to digress with your opinion i why people use it, it WAS the best iOS client, that’s why people use it. Then it’s called being lazy, so I never used anything else because well it worked well enough, but now you’re suggesting that iOS subscribers are funding your prioritization of an Android client? And a desktop client? Wtf? No wonder it has a “smaller feature set” because you’re working on Android!

The whole point of this post is to make Damus users aware of a BETTER iOS client. And sure, it’s not as fast and smooth, but I didn’t start using Damus because it was slick, I started using it because it was the best on iOS. You started zaps, and you made pictures look good, but guess what, now @NOSTUR does all that stuff better. Along with a ton of other stuff I had no idea Nostr even did!!

if nostur is doing what you need then use nostur. What’s the point of bashing every client that doesn’t have a feature you want. Clients will always have diverging feature sets and priorities. Ours is expanding to other platforms at the moment.

You literally have had this statement screenshotted below on Damus purple website since like day one and what other features did you add? Access to test flight was actually removing a feature from people to create exclusivity for those who purchased purple, access to your notedeck doesn’t even apply to users who use iOS, which is literally every Damus purple subscriber… I don’t use nostr on my computer, and I don’t care about Android cuz I have an iphone(along with every other purple subscriber)

In my opinion, you and Will responded to him with absolute class, were fair and quick with it. He’s entitled to his opinion of course, and in turn the solution was provided - and not just for him, but for anyone else with questions too. Them snitching to Jack pissed me right off. I don’t know why people do that. Fight your own battles. Having your say is perfectly reasonable, but continuing to slag Damus off is just dickhead behaviour. Buuuut I also believe in freedom of speech. Everyone should be free to look as stupid as they like online 👍

How about giving Damus a chance to do what they’re doing. You might not understand what they’re doing, or like it, but have you asked questions about their long term plan, or just made assumptions? They have a plan, and they’re passionate about it. As with all artists, trust the process - it’s not an overnight thing here, and it’s not a company of 100 people. It’s Will, Vanessa, mr E and I think maybe a few other lads/ladies. That’s it. Can you imagine the requests all nostr devs get? This may shock people, but they have lives and families too.

And mate, if you aren’t satisfied, you could always learn to code (if you dont already know how) and contribute, you tortoise-loving bastard.

If you’re happy with nostur then use nostur - nothing wrong with that, that’s one of the beautiful things about nostr, you get to use multiple clients. That’s a beautiful thing.

I swear I have immense patience usually. I used to work in retail for 5 years and some customers were just unreasonable. I couldn’t say anything, of course.

Damus won’t tell you to fuck off, but I certainly can. You’re not my customer. Get thoroughly fucked, and have a good week.

I paid for Damus purple, the promise was more features would be added for subscribers, I’ve been patient for a year, no more features while other clients add them and the person I paid is working on platforms that don’t even help the subscribers.

Maybe you should subscribe if you love them so much?

I just want Damus to be better but it seems like everyone would rather tell me to just fuck off.

Will and Venessa are reasonable people. They invite people to chat.

I believe as a Damus subscriber you are still getting extra features compared to a normal Damus user, so it’s not like you’re/were paying for nothing. You’re paying to maintain said features. I believe the time frame for new features was not specific. He didn’t say ‘on Tuesday’. He said ‘as soon as possible’ and it’s just not possible right now.

Nobody forced you to spend your money.

God, you’re so easy to predict 🥹. I was subscribed. I’m number 67. Just missed 69. And I will subscribe again when I feel like it. I’m not taking advice from someone who waits a year to bitch about a product online. I do things when I feel like doing them. I use Damus because I believe in Will and Vanessa. I use other clients on occasion too. I feel it wouldn’t make sense for me personally to subscribe this year as I won’t be online as much.

I think all the nostr devs are doing a fucking great job. People would benefit from having a little patient. I’ve always been a fan of quality over quantity, so I’m excited to see what they do next.

I understand you want them to be better, and that’s great, and again, you are of course free so say what you want, but you can’t control what they work on.

I apologise for being mean, I don’t mean to be, I can be sharp with my words when I feel strongly about something, and I apologise for that. I just wanted to get my point across too.

Little do you know I have reached out privately to discuss potential improvements to Damus a number of times, asking for better relay management, live activity support, identified usability issues, and have generally done my best as a user to contribute where I can when I can.

The fact you no longer subscribe is a testimony to my point- subscribers will stop supporting Damus because they find little reason to continue to do so.

You’re kinda missing the point. Will and the team have a proof of concept that works better than MANY of the other clients. And they are fully supporting this app. While trying to launch an even better more universal client that Mets or exceeds your short sighted self-centered expectations. Being a user doesn’t mean you pay them to do your bidding. You are a user that can offer valuable feedback, but at the end of the day you clearly aren’t privy to all the conversations that are happening behind the doors. Also. They are a VERY limited team and have produced one of if not the best most open and most performant Nostr client to-date. Get off your high horse and help the devs. Not tear them down.

This is an interesting conversation and demonstrates one of the pluses/downsides of decentralised software. People have different ideas, sometimes a consensus can be found, the idea behind kinds; sometimes not. I’m a dev, I get it. Not a dev on Nostr though (not yet).
