FWIW believe she did a home birth. Personally I’ve never seen, or ordered an umbilical cord drug blood test, but I imagine they may have sent a study if she brought the kiddo to the hospital after birth and the ER crew was concerned, baffled, or prone to shot-gun workups.
To your point, a midwife nearly killed one of my close relatives and her kiddo…because she needed lifesaving surgery…and the hack misdiagnosed her (a couple of us were able to convince her to seek attention elsewhere so all turned out well). I’ve also been apart of several emergent deliveries in which care was delayed due to the ineptitude of subpar midwives.
Many great midwives and OB/GYNs out there. DYOR on who your “provider” (hate that expression 😂) is, what their capabilities are, and what the plan is in the event shit hits the fan.
Most of us get into the medical field to help people.
