yayyy hospital bill came 🥰♥️

That's not bad. My surgery was over 1 million dollars.
Wait what? You had to pay all of that?
No, I would be dead long before that was even close to being paid off. I don't remember the exact amount, but it's less than Roya's after insurance.
So your health insurance pays and then you still need to pay some?
that’s how it is usually for big hospital bills in america :/
that’s if you have insurance at all, without it you’re just left with not a lot of options.
Wow, it’s completely different here!
I’ve got private health insurance which pays for everything and allows me the options of private hospitals and doctors, but the majority here don’t have anything but they still get free hospital access, free doctors and surgeries.
wow that sounds like the dream tbh.
Yup, we pay monthly premiums, then you have to meet a deductible but you also have a maximum out of pocket and you pay co-pays for prescriptions and appointments. Have a family and you’ll go broke trying to cover them if you don’t have a good job, no job no insurance 🤷🏻
How does that even work for anyone involved in this transaction!?
American healthcare is broken.
On purpose.
Just get hurt at work and it’s all paid for 😂
Honestly if you get sick and “have time”, especially if you have insurance.
Just travel to a different country get the help you need and come back.
Not you… meaning anyone*
It’s true. You can probably fly to India, get top notch private healthcare, stay for 6 months while you recover, eat delicious food that costs almost nothing, and work remotely for a fraction of what it would cost here even after insurance kicks in.
I find it interesting & frustrating that tech jobs provide some of the better and more affordable insurance options
Please tell me you have insurance 🙁
i don’t
😢 well… I hope you figure it all out.
Hope you are feeling better, physically.
So what is your plan with that? There are multiple options...
trying a few options
Sounds good! Feel free to share what you are considering. Nostriches are here to help... 😊
That bill is not meant for you. It is meant for the insurance company in the grand shell game that is healthcare (a term I use loosely) finance. It is inflated so the insurance company can brag about negotiating it down by 60% as advertising material and the hospital can whine about how they only get 40% of what they bill. Call them and tell them you are broke. It should dramatically reduce it
this is the itemized bill i did that instantly
You don’t have to pay those ya know
I feel you there. Mine was 5000 for 4 hours :)
Negotiate!
Wild
Would love if this got paid down via nostr for you.
I once paid 10k for MRI and had solid insurance. Awful
Look like you need crowdhealth
