I don’t understand how people eat one meal a day. How are you able to consume enough calories in one meal and not feel thoroughly uncomfortable afterwards?

I have to save room for the steady drip of beer

it really is liquid bread. 😂

I'm too poor lol I don't always have a choice. Though when I can I do general eat twice a day.

😢 this sucks. Do you have any resources near you to get food? Food bank, little free pantry, soup kitchens?

I'm not sure, haven't really looked into it. don't worry though I'm by no means starving or anything.

Ok I’m glad you’re not starving. Had me worried there for a minute.

I just don’t really feel uncomfortable after, not sure why… I feel more uncomfortable eating til I’m less than full because I know I have to eat another meal later in the day, then feel steadily hungry until I eat it 😂 I’m probably just built different.

I’ve had 3 lbs of Chinese food in 1 sitting before. It’s possible.

There goes my hero. 🫂

Did you feel ill afterwards? 3lbs is so much food.

It was a one time thing and never again LOL. The aftermath was inhuman

Ill raise you one more. I can do that and gain weight. Its a very bad habit.

I can see how that’s possible if you’re able to eat 3 lbs of food at a Chinese buffet like nostr:npub1lmxnz7j58s9xy4g34und9mme8sd7rcx826y5202eg36mptk5dcdsd93ymh

I knew it was 3lbs because it was a to-go order at the buffet that was per pound priced lol. $7 a pound or so lol. Best and worst 21 dollars ever spent

🤣

Jejum também é parte de educação alimentar.

Mas os benefícios vão além disto.

I used to be able to eat so much that people would ask if my legs were hollow. Now I can’t even eat the portion sizes they serve at restaurants. I wish I could order a kid size.

😆😆 first time I heard that: if legs are hollow.

I used to be the skinny person who eats more than anyone my friend knows. But now the same. Restaurant portions ARE just too big tbh

I once had someone recommend the book “Skinny Legs and All” by Kurt Vonnegut, when I asked why she just gestured up and down my body.

Hahaha

What does that even mean?!

I was my skinniest at my full height so I was just skinny legs and all. 😂

Also I’m glad I’m not the only one. I think how much I used to be able to eat was practically a personality trait.

This is very relatable

I order kids meals all the time.

But you are a kid, wolf 🐺😂

True. I get sideways looks from the servers and then I return their sideways looks with up and down looks and then sideways looks and then it’s usually more awkward and we all move on.

I’ve been refused to be allowed to order a kids meal. It’s happened enough I rarely bother asking.

What if you just got an appetizer and a side or something? That could be a way to recreate the smaller portion while getting a fairly well rounded meal (depending on the place)

I do that a lot actually. I also pick restaurants with small plates, sushi is a good option, or pick a meal that can be saved for leftovers.

Really? That’s so weird to me. I’d leave.

I tried. It is uncomfortable and I am very hungry by my next meal time.

It depends on what you are consuming as calories.

During the week, I tend to eat 1-2 lbs of meat a day. I also eat several pats (maybe a half-stick) of butter. And some milk, but not much. Today I had about 1 lb of sausage, a little less than 1 lb of steak, and 6 oz of of pepperoni. Probably a little heavier day, but Mondays often are, because I eat a lot less most weekends. This weekend, I think I had about 5 eggs and one big piece of salmon, maybe a lb, probably less. That's over 2 days. I also drink a lot of coffee and water. Tomorrow I plan to have about 1 lb of steak, and 12 oz of shrimp.

I don't know how many calories that is. I don't necessarily try to eat one meal a day, but often do on the weekends, or sometimes even skip a day. I do try to eat between 10a and 4p, but sometimes have a snack before bed.

This is plenty to keep me feeling satiated. It is still probably far less than most diets, but I don't have sugar cravings and energy drops every couple hours to worry about and feed, and I'm not stuffing myself with filler foods (starches, pasta, rice) to be "full".

And I have more energy than ever, even throughout the day. Again, thanks to not depending on sugars/carbs for energy.

This isn't a perfect diet, but where I'm at right now. Ideally I would eat less sausage and cured meats. Often curing means dextrose, and possibly corn syrup and/or sugar in sausage. Got to be really careful.

Are you eating that amount over a period of time? Or one sitting typically?

Usually one meat at a time. 1 lb of meat is plenty. Or 5 eggs. If I only eat one meat, or just eggs, like on weekends, then all at once.

I prefer to eat about 3-4oz of meat with vegetables. So an entire pound of meat at one time seems daunting.

I agree. It is different when eating no veggies or other fillers. Still, I would be fine with 12oz most of the time I am eating 16oz.
