Is there a Nostr "pagerank" system somewhere ranking people to see who has more signal and who is complete spam/sybil?
Discussion
I think we should implement something like TrustNet because it is entirely decentralized so user ranking is subjective instead of universal.
We could also feed in content reports and only use the ones from users that have a high trustnet score for you.
BTW⦠Having read a bit of the TrustNet docs⦠NIP-68 & 69 mirror it in many ways - only you canāt give a trust weight to the other person/account. That was somewhat intentional because it adds a layer of complexity which has limited value in an environment like Nostr. And TrustNet seems to focus more on P2P where thereās a limited (rather than enormous) number of people who could be trusted. When you have a huge number of people who you can trust I donāt see the value in partial trusts. Just pick the ones you _really_ trust.
One area where Iām thinking we could mirror TrustNet more is the Trust Area idea. So you only trust someoneās content moderation labels in a particular area of moderation. I think thatās too complex for end users but could be implemented by folks like relays who have their own formulas.
It's simple, everyone nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m follows is pure signal, the rest is noise š
this is exactly what we need. compute relevancy by the relevancy of references

Was just today thinking that if you're not interested in nostr development but want to follow content creators it's really hard to find and follow them. All the recommendations and 24h trending etc. are boosting the few early devs and influencers on nostr.
Does the people search on nostr.band help? Or is is still a challenge? Could you please provide more context of whom you'd like to have discovered and how you're trying to do it right now?
You're doing a lot and the integration into browsers is very helpful š¤
I'm thinking new users and going outside of their default browser might be too much. It's the same in my case. I seldom go directly to nostr.band even though that's the way.
How I do it? Just by browsing the feed and discovering new people by their notes and interactions. Nostr is getting so big so finding the right type of people is more thematic like in the traditional media (Twitter etc.) .
The issue may not be even the discovery but that the current nostr populace is too homogeneous.
Here's a capture from Primal just now:

Yeah I agree that a) going to external site is a pain, and b) current "trending posts" are too skewed towards the OG. I myself don't like them too much, but have no great ideas on how to improve atm.
Iām busy building it
