This evening my maternal grandfather, Howard Pattison died at the age of 101 years old. He used to say he was never going to die. When asked what he meant he would respond, "What do I need to die for?"

When talking about him with someone else I always used to joke that he was never going to die. And, the honest truth is that until a couple of hours ago I truly believed it.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sending you love. ♥️

since my mother died, I've been feeling everything that comes and one of the things I felt is that she's never going to die. I hope you feel the truth in his words, but, in the meantime, allow yourself to feel everything - you can be angry and frustrated and sad and everything that comes - just a reminder. and I'm here if you want to talk more about him or anything. sending you a warm hug!

Thank you for your kind words. I will no doubt be fine, but my mother and her siblings are now just experiencing the loss of a parent for the first time at nearly the age of 59 and her oldest brother being 18 years her senior...

I hope that I can help her through what you've described.

I know you are there for her and that will be a lot. trust her and her siblings, it may be really really hard, but they can go through it. sending you another hug, because it's hard seeing our parents experiencing a parent's loss.

So sorry for your loss 🫂

Sorry to hear that 🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️

But 101 is actually amazing 🫡

Dan, sorry for your loss. To have that that many years with your grandfather is a true blessing. They don’t make’em like that anymore. A true hero has been lost. 🫂

A brave age.

God rest.

My prayers are with you Dan.

Losing your grandfather is one of the hardest moments to experience.

He was not wrong though. Even though he may no longer be living. He will never die as long as you keep the memory of him alive in your heart. I know this is painful now, but know that he will still always be with you and a part of you.

Whenever you need to seek his wisdom all you have to do is look within and ask yourself what he would say? Have a conversation in your mind and listen to the answers from within your heart. This is how we can still keep in touch with the memory of our loved ones after they have passed away. So they can help guide us through our thoughts and actions every day whenever we need them.

Remember the good times you spent together.

This pain shall pass one day.

I hope you feel better soon.
